With so many crazy things going on in our world today I hate to be the person to pass more negativity. So I’m not going to do that, I’m going to prepare you wrestling fans for things that could possibly happen at Wrestlemania 36 on Saturday or Sunday night so you can brace yourself for those things.
Here are the 5 things that could happen this weekend that might not particularly make you happy as a wrestling fan.
5.) Dolph Ziggler defeats Otis with Mandy Rose’s Assistance
How many of you are like me and have always gone after the perfect girl or guy and thought…they are way out of my league. Yeah, me too. That’s why this storyline has hit home with so many wrestling fans. Before the coronavirus made all events fanless you could see how much crowd support Otis was beginning to get each week after each segment with Dolph. To see him lose on the biggest stage of them all and losing to the guy who took his woman with the help of her would only add insult to injury. This would sadden me and the majority of the WWE Universe. I’m hoping for a win for the big guy in this match.
4.) Daniel Bryan defeats Sami Zayn to win the Intercontinental Championship
Yes, I know. How could a babyface as lovable as Daniel Bryan defeating Sami Zayn make me upset? Hear me out. If you’re like me you’re active on social media (Twitter, Facebook, etc). One thing I found interesting was all the positive comments and things said about Sami Zayn after he won the Intercontinental Championship from Braun Strowman at the Elimination Chamber. With that being said Sami Zayn is a performer who I think has barely scratched the surface of his potential. He is amazing on the microphone and is one of the best in the ring. Daniel Bryan taking the belt from his does nothing for him and Zayn retaining would show WWE has faith in him (as they should) and could lead to more entertaining segments and matches in the future between the two. I’m rooting big for Sami Zayn to pull off the win this weekend.
3.) Charlotte Flair defeats Rhea Ripley for the NXT Championship
Okay, I can’t lie this one I don’t feel bad about one bit. Charlotte Flair is probably the best women’s wrestler in the world. I GET IT. I see why she constantly wins big matches and gets the belt put on her over and over and over. But this is one of those times where it makes ZERO sense to do so. Maybe it was just me but I was beyond irate when Charlotte won the Women’s Royal Rumble. There was no reason for it as she is already established. I think that spot would have been better to get over another talent( Shayna Bayzler, Sasha Banks, Nia Jax, Bianca Belair, etc).
So what sense would it make to have Charlottle defeat Rhea Ripley? Honestly, I want to know? Rhea is arguably one of the hottest acts in women’s wrestling right now. She has a great look, is fantastic in the ring and you can see is just improving each week. Rhea defeating Charlotte would put her on the map as a top woman and make an already loaded women’s division look that much better.
The one question you could ask me is…
Doesn’t Charlotte losing to an NXT wrestler hurt her?
First off WWE is treating NXT more like a third brand (who won Survivor Series?) than developmental so you need to stop thinking that way as a fan. Second, NO she is an established star! You can easily book her in a feud with a Shayna Bayzler, Asuka, or Becky Lynch after Wrestlemania and people are not going to think less of her.
For Rhea though it would put her over and make NXT that more legitimate (want better ratings right?). This is the most difficult match to predict for me on the whole card but I pray that at the end of the night Rhea Ripley is still your NXT Women’s Champion!
2.) Brock Lesnar defeats Drew McIntyre to retain the WWE Championship
I already know what your thinking. WHY THE HELL IS THE NOT NUMBER ONE WE ARE SO SICK OF PART-TIME CHAMPIONS!!! I agree 100 percent with you. But this is a very possible outcome and here is why. The whole Men’s Royal Rumble Match with Brock destroying half the field with ease was done to set up one thing: Drew McIntyre being viewed as a main event star.
Here’s my question for you all… Did it work? I jumped off my couch when Drew hit that Claymore and took Brock over the top rope. Yes, it worked but unfortunately, we have this coronavirus going on right now and that could cause WWE to alter the finish to this match.
The reasoning being this whole feud seems to have been set up for Drew to FINALLY capture his first World Championship in WWE after a 13-year journey in front of all the fans.
Well, there are no fans right now. So would it destroy Drew’s credibility if he were to put on a highly competitive match with Brock and just come up a little short and then possibly have another match with him for the title at Summerslam (hopefully in front of fans by then).
I don’t think it would be the worst thing that could happen but I know the WWE fans and this outcome would set them off. Not saying it’s going to happen but just remember this is Brock Lesnar and you can never count him out. With all that being said I am hoping at the end of the weekend we have a new WWE Champion named Drew McIntrye.
1.) John Cena defeats “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt in the Firefly Funhouse
This is the hardest match for me to watch this Wrestlemania. John Cena is my favorite wrestler of all time. Bray Wyatt is my current favorite wrestler (active wrestler you could say). I love everything he’s done since the Firefly Funhouse showed up on WWE TV in the middle of last year. The Fiend character is badass and it’s one of the few things WWE had not screwed up until…… GOLDBERG.
First off I understand why Goldberg went over as far as the business aspect. Vince wanted Roman Reigns to win the WWE Universal Championship and get cheered while doing so. I get it he survived cancer which is amazing and he does deserve this moment. But it could have been done differently in my opinion. But anyways, how better to get Reigns that moment he deserves than have Goldberg beat the hottest thing in WWE today The Fiend, get massive heat on Goldberg then have Reigns kick his ass. Like I said I get it.
So I finally got over it. Only because if The Fiend had to lose the belt in order for this feud with John Cena to happen then its the best for him long term as long as HE WINS THIS MATCH!!!
If The Fiend loses this match to John Cena I will officially lose my mind as will wrestling fans everywhere.
Why have your hottest superstar drop the belt to a broken down part-time superstar only to have him lose to another returning part-time superstar? It would show Vince has no faith in Bray and that would be a huge mistake. The Fiend destroying John Cena is the only way to go here. Cena is going back to Hollywood and we probably won’t see him again until Summerslam if even then and this loss does nothing to him.
For Bray, on the other hand, would be the biggest win of his career and build him up as an even bigger badass and monster going forward. It would also put some faith back in WWE fans when it comes to booking since this would right the wrong that many fans think was done when the WWE Universal Championship was taking off The Fiend. WWE only has one option here: The Fiend needs to destroy John Cena. It’ll be a huge mistake if they don’t and I for one am extremely nervous but hoping they make the right decision come this weekend at Wrestlemania.
What would make you the most upset this Wrestlemania weekend?
