Hey everyone back at you with another “5 Things We Learned” article. Tonight we are talking about the things we learned from Monday Night Raw tonight.
With the upcoming Money In The Bank PPV upcoming and the fact that qualifying matches should be upcoming.Along with what’s next for Becky and who will challenge her at the event? After seeing last week that Drew McIntyre defeated Brock Lesnar and The Big Show at Wrestlemania what does the future look for him challenger wise? Did we find these things out? Or did we learn other things? Well, let’s find out!!!!
5.) The road to Money in the Bank Begins!!!!!
Well, tonight we learned who the first three competitors in the Women’s Money in the Bank are in Asuka, Nia Jax, and Shayna Baszler. Asuka defeated Ruby Riott in a competitive match, Nia Jax destroyed Kiari Sane, and Shayna Bayzler looked like she broke Sarah Logan’s arm.
These are 3 of the biggest talents that the WWE Women’s Division has. With Nia Jax just returning from an injury she would already have to think that she would be one of the top favorites. The same goes for Shayna Baszler. Baszler seems to have an already paved road to Becky Lynch and another shot at the Raw Women’s Championship so I don’t know if her winning the briefcase is even necessary. I could also see Becky costing her the match in all honesty.
Asuka is a woman you can never count out but as of this moment seems unlikely to win the briefcase IMO. I would like to see someone like Liv Morgan, Bianca Belair, Lacey Evans, or maybe even a Carmella win the briefcase.
Obviously there are more matches to be had to complete the field but I think Money In The Bank matches should be used to have talent that needs the “rub” to get it. With all that being said Charlotte will probably decide to be in the match and win and cash in and take all the damn titles. WOULDNT THAT BE GREAT? Do you think I’m kidding? I’m not. Sorry about that haha but looking positively ahead the Money In The Bank field is already looking good and I’m excited to see what other women are added to this match(unless it’s Charlotte).
Let’s get to the Men’s Money In the Bank match. We don’t have any official competitors in the match as of yet but MVP in his VIP Lounge announced that next week there will be three Money in the Bank qualifying matches.
The matches announced were Aleister Black vs Austin Theory, Murphy vs Rey Mysterio, and Apollo Crews vs MVP (Yeah you read that correctly). Well, after seeing this you have to automatically think Alister Black will win his match and be a favorite to win.
Imagine him carrying around the briefcase and being able to get a championship match any time he wants. The fact that Austin Theory is already on Raw after a short time in NXT shows you how highly they think of him. He defeated Tazowa tonight in impressive fashion and is a future star in the business no doubt but I don’t see him defeating Alister here.
My dream scenario would be Black gets the briefcase and cashes it on The Fiend without directly pinning him. Let me explain, have Black cash in like Seth did at Wrestlemania where Black would cash in on Braun during the inevitable title match between The Fiend and Braun. He could pin Braun then BOOM Aleister Black vs The Fiend Bray Wyatt a match that could easily take the main event spot at Summerslam. Who would complain about that? Imagine the promos and build to that match. Just remember if it happens then Vince is reading my articles.
Rey Mysterio vs Murphy will be no doubt a great display of athletism kind of match and I’m sure it will be one of the top matches of all next week. It’s nice to see Apollo Crews getting somewhat moved up the card. I assume (I know never assume with WWE) that Crews will defeat MVP next week and move on and it’s just nice to see him getting some screen time.
Hopefully, him beating MVP leads to maybe MVP being his manager. Crews does amazing things in the ring especially for a guy his size and it’d be nice to see him get a solid push. He just isn’t the best on the mic. Then enters MVP who is good on the mic and would be the perfect mouthpiece. Just a thought.
But regardless, I look forward to seeing who Smackdown has compete for spots in this match hopefully as soon as this upcoming Friday. Money In the Bank is my second favorite PPV (after The Royal Rumble) and I’m looking forward to seeing who gets added to complete the field for both the men and women.
4.) It doesn’t seem Becky Lynch is going to be defending the Raw Women’s Championship at Money In The Bank
Becky came out tonight on Raw to a roaring crowd (is that joke old yet?) to cut a promo primarily focused on one Shayna Bayzler. This furthers my expectation for Becky to possibly cost Shayna at the chance at the briefcase during the Money In The Bank PPV.
If you made me pick a favorite now I would have to go with Shayna just slightly over Nia Jax. Only because WWE seems hell-bent on making Shayna look strong after her lackluster Twilight vampire debut on Raw. I think Becky and Shayna can continue to feud and that the briefcase doesn’t need to be involved.
As I stated above you can give the briefcase to a woman that could get more benefit more from it but WWE doesn’t like to do things that make sense most of the time especially when it comes to the women’s division. I honest to god expect Charlotte to somehow win this somehow.
Just so y’all know if that does happen I will dress up as Charlotte this year for Halloween and just embrace her. I will have no other choice. I REALLY HOPE THIS DOESNT HAPPEN!
3.) Zelina Vega’s associates appear to have huge futures on the RAW brand
From Andrade main eventing Raw against Drew McIntyre to Austin Theory being featured weekly on the show and having a great showing in his Wrestlemania debut match (The guy is only 22) and Angel Garza has been impressing for multiple weeks including beating NXT’s Tehuti Miles tonight with ease.
They all also appeared in the main event of tonight’s show as well. It’s obvious that these three men have what it takes to be a huge star in this business from the look, talent in the ring, and the ultimate X factor Zelina Vega. She’s the mouthpiece for each man which is very good for each since they all are pretty green on the mic at this point. She is always at ringside so competitors always have to be aware of where she is and what she’s doing. Let’s not forget she is a damn good in-ring competitor in her own right. This team who has yet to be named is who I like to call The A-Team.
Yeah, it’s very generic but all three of there names start with the letter A (Andrade, Angel, Austin). Plus, its an easy arrogant name Zelina can say over and over to get under the WWE Universe’s skin. The fact these four have been featured more and more each and every week shows WWE is firmly behind letting all of them have every chance to succeed. I hope they take full advantage of it because opportunities like this don’t come along very often.
2.) Apparently Charlotte is going to appear on RAW as well as NXT .. oh joy!
Well, this was exciting. You all know how big of a Charlotte fan I am. I’m almost as big of a fan of her as my fellow AEE writer Anthony DiSalvatore is of the great Orange Cassidy (Pockets as he calls him).
Seeing her on RAW was the most exciting thing that happened to me all day. Ok, I can’t do it anymore. I’m a horrible liar. This was honestly not too terrible. Charlotte came out actually put over Rhea more on the mic after bragging about beating Bayley and Becky countless times. I understand what WWE is doing putting Charlotte on RAW which gets 2 million-plus viewers each week and her letting the fans know she’s the NXT Women’s Champion might get those millions of fans to turn into NXT on Wednesday’s and help them with the ratings I get it.
Her boo thing and soon to be husband Andrade is also on RAW so one can assume she’s backstage each week anyway so why not use her? The segment continues as Charlotte brings up her upcoming match with the new number one contender for her championship Io Shirai and how she will be next for her to defeat and we will bow down to the queen (I about barfed typing that).
Well, it appears as if Charlotte will be appearing on RAW and NXT going forward and hopefully that helps benefit NXT in the ratings and get’s them more buzz. For me, I’ll just sit here and try to contain my excitement at the fact I get to see Charlotte on 20 commercials a day and one two wrestling shows a week. Oh, the joy……..
The Extra Points
Even after his destruction of No Way Jose, it looks like Bobby Lashley and Lana are at the beginning stages of the ending of there marriage. Where does this lead these two into the future? Who the hell knows? Lashley, as I have said in previous articles, has been wasted since his return to the WWE and Lana just seems weird accompanying anyone to the ring whos name isn’t Rusev (You know the guy who hasn’t been on TV for months and her real-life husband?). I guess for better or worse in sickness or in health we will find out (see what I did there).
Piggybacking a little bit off my last couple “5 Things We Learned on Raw” articles it appears as if WWE is taking this Richochet and Cedric Alexander tag team seriously and I am very happy about this as should the WWE faithful. Yes, they lost to The Viking Raiders. But they put up a hell of a fight against the former WWE Raw Tag Team Champions. The fact they were competitive in what was a really solid match between the two teams shows WWE is somewhat invested in them as a team.
The crazy things these two can do in the ring and there chemistry is growing each week. I think they need a mouthpiece (MVP!!!!, just imagine a stable of Apollo Crews, Richochet, and Cedric to rival a team like Andrade, Theory, and Garza with MVP pulling the strings).
I’m tempering my expectations because I don’t trust WWE to book the tag division strong because they haven’t in the past. But, there is a chance for something special here.
Also, it looks as if a Street Profits vs The Viking Raiders WWE Raw Tag Team Championship feud is upcoming. Not much else to say about it at this point. It just was teased tonight in a backstage interview with the Street Profits and Bianca Belair. Something to keep an eye on.
1.) Seth Rollins looks like he will be Drew McIntyre’s first feud as WWE Champion
Well, after the night leading off with Andrade vs Drew McIntyre being booked for the main event I thought as if that would be the first feud for Drew. Luckily I was wrong. No offense to Andrade but that feud has already been done in NXT.
Seth Rollins vs Drew McIntyre is a feud I can get behind. Seth Rollins is regarded as one of the best professional wrestlers in the world. You put him up against a man in Drew McIntyre who is at the peak of his career and you have a possible classic feud on your hands if booked properly.
Seth is the perfect opponent for Drew. The matches will be great, the promos will be entertaining, and Seth with his Monday Night Messiah gimmick is the kind of heel that will just elevate Drew more and more in the WWE Universe’s eyes. There is literally no reason for anyone to not be excited about this upcoming feud. These two stars have yet to really have a storyline together outside of the few times their paths have crossed on RAW in the past. This is quite an interesting development for the RAW brand and is something that should keep the WWE Universe invested for weeks and possibly months to come.
