5 Things We Learned from the Raw
Hey everyone happy 4/20 and welcome back to another edition of 5 Things We Learned From WWE Raw 4/20/20!! I don’t celebrate this holiday but happy holidays to the ones that do! While you are baked out of your mind we hope you checked out Monday Night Raw and are reading this article!
Coming into this week we knew Buddy Murphy vs Rey Mysterio, Aleister Black vs Austin Theory, and Apollo Crews vs MVP were announced. Many other questions are needing answering as well. Will there be any more Money in the Bank qualifying matches for the women? Are the Vikings Raiders the next challengers for The Street Profits? What’s next for Zelina Vega and her stable? How does WWE Champion Drew McIntyre react after the attack by Seth Rollins last week? Is a match between the two upcoming?
Get your blunt wraps and bongs ready as it’s time to go over the 5 things you learned from tonight’s Monday Night Raw.
5.) Drew McIntyre vs Seth Rollins is going to happen at Money in the Bank
At the beginning of Raw, we got Drew McIntyre challenging Seth Rollins to a match at Money in the Bank for the WWE Championship. McIntyre said he had to think about whether or not Rollins was worthy of a title shot (Rollins lost to Kevin Owens at Wrestlemania), but rather than make him jump through hoops to get a title shot, he would rather continue to prove his status as a true champion.
Later in the night, Seth Rollins is sitting on a leather chair in his home. He says Drew McIntyre is a brave man, a fighting Champion, and he respects that. He says not many know what it’s like to be in Drew’s shoes, but he does. He says they both beat Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania, and they both have a deep passion for the industry. And so he accepts his challenge to a match at Money In The Bank out of necessity because the WWE Universe needs a leader. He is a proven leader and Drew is not. He says he’s going to take McIntyre’s title at WrestleMania because he has to.
This match will no doubt be a solid match at Money in the Bank. Seth is the most logical first feud for Drew heading into his first WWE Championship reign. I was hoping a returning Jinder Mahal would be the best opponent for Drew. You could play off there past history in 3MB and Jinder is a former WWE Champion as well. Oh well, maybe down the line we will. DONT HINDER JINDER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
4.) Aleister Black, Apollo Crews, and Rey Mysterio qualify for Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match
In the first Men’s Money in the Bank qualifying match of the night, Alister Black defeated Austin Theory with a Black Mass. Theory took it clean too! The Black Mass is one of the most devastating moves in the WWE today. This was a very good competitive match. The future for Austin Theory is so damn bright. The dude is going to be a huge superstar. He looked great even in defeat. I laughed out loud at Zelina Vega screaming at Aleister (her real-life husband) during the match. She’s such a good manager/competitor as well. Very good match here!
Apollo Crews is continuing to shine on Monday Night Raw. Apollo defeated MVP to qualify for the Money in the Bank Ladder Match. Crews and MVP had a good bout where both men had their moments. Was there any doubt Crews was winning this match though? MVP is a backstage manager at this point in his career and he’s just there to put over people at this point. I’m still on board with MVP leading a stable of Apollo, Richochet, and Alexander but I have no faith in WWE making this move because it makes too much sense. Shocking. NOT.
Rey Mysterio vs Buddy Murphy was the match I honestly didn’t know who was going to win. A very fast-paced match as expected. I was very excited to see these two men battle it out and I wasn’t disappointed. I did learn Murphy is apparently part of Seth’s group still. Who knew? But this match was what you expected it to be and that was very good. No doubt Rey is a legend and Buddy is one of the best young performers today. Mysterio adds some “star” power to the Money in the Bank Ladder Match. From a business standpoint, I get it. But I was hoping for a Murphy win here. Well, Murphy lost Alexa Bliss too so maybe losing is just his thing?
3.) There is no favorite for the winner of the Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match
Nia Jax destroyed Kairi Sane. Shayna Bayzler destroyed Indi Hartwell. I’d love to see Liv Morgan added to the Money in the Bank Ladder Match since there are already 3 women from RAW in the match it looks like that won’t happen. But Liv impressed once again as she defeated Ruby Riott. Liv is so much improved in the ring and WWE would be smart to push her sooner rather than later. Between Nia, Shayna and Asuka with more competitors yet to be added I have no idea who to even consider the favorite at this point. Nia has been booked like a monster since she’s been back. Shayna has as well plus she has the ongoing battle with Becky and it would make sense for her to win and challenge her again. But you cannot count out Asuka either. I can easily see Asuka get the briefcase and hold onto it for a while to cash it in at a later time. WWE got me invested in this one. I’m curious to see what other women are added to the match. This is one of the more intriguing storylines going forward. I can’t wait to see who else is added to match. But I love Money in the Bank matches. What I love even more is one’s where there is no clear cut favorite. I advise you all to keep your eyes on this one going forward. Let’s just pray Charlotte doesn’t somehow get added. Speaking of my favorite woman in the world…….
2.) I’m cursed I CANT GET AWAY FROM CHARLOTTE
I know you probably don’t care and are sick of me talking about it but. CHARLOTTE IS TORTURING ME!!!! Every week she’s on RAW and then on NXT! She took the NXT Championship from Rhea Ripley for no reason and now I get her on two nights. If you want her on NXT so bad PUT HER ON NXT. I don’t need to see her on every other commercial for some shitty phone company or a vignette of how damn great she is every week. WE GET IT! Charlotte defeated Kayden Carter with ease tonight for reasons I can’t explain. What benefit does have for Charlotte? Did this match get fans to tune in or change there channel as I did? Charlotte doesn’t need to be built up anymore. She’s already the 1938947308419 time Women’s Champion. She had more title reigns in one month than her illustrious dad Ric Flair did in his whole career. Okay, maybe that’s a little exaggerated but it sure feels like it don’t it? I hope someone takes the belt off of her(WHICH WE KNOW IS HIGHLY UNLIKELY) or she just begins to appear on one WWE show per week. Strictly for the sake of my mental state. Carry on.
The Extra Points
Richochet and Cedric Alexander continue to look great in tag team action. Coming off there loss last Monday to the Viking Raiders in a very good competitive match the high flying duo defeated Shane Thorne & Brendon Vink. This is a promising sign still for the two men who were “rumored” to have been getting “buried. Dumbass internet marks.
Bobby Lashley can flip tires. That’s it. Yep, that’s what we learned. WTF?!
The Street Profits are annoying and loud on commentary. If I had to listen to the Street Profits on commentary every week I would drink paint thinner. They are one of my favorite tag teams in WWE in the ring but commentary is a whole other thing. Anyway, the point of them coming out was to help introduce the newest member of the Raw roster, Bianca Belair, to the ring where she defeated Santana Garrett. Bianca is a future star of the WWE Women’s Division. I just hope for my ear’s sake her boo bear and his boy aren’t on commentary for every match she’s in or I’ll have to start using the mute button.
1.) Zelina Vega and her associates are the future of RAW and you better get used to seeing them
Austin Theory had a great match earlier in the night as stated above. Andrade (Mr. Flair) defeated Tozawa easily earlier in the night and Angel Garza put on a strong effort in a loss to WWE Champion Drew McIntyre. Zelina Vega and her group of men with limitless potential are being pushed to the moon it appears on RAW. Paul Heyman/Vince McMahon has firming gotten behind them. Angel Garza who I am a huge supporter of has done nothing but impress. Dating back to him winning the NXT Cruiserweight Championship a few months back til now I can’t think of a match I have seen Garza in that hasn’t made me more impressed with him. Yes, Theory and Garza weren’t victorious tonight and Andrade was defeated last week by Drew as well. But, WWE booking them so strong even in defeat show’s you the confidence they have in all of them going forward. Aleister Black is a huge up and coming star and Drew is the champ. These guys arent losing to scrubs. The future for Vega and her boys (Alister included) is very bright. The WWE universe needs to get used to seeing all of them all over Monday Night Raw and in the main event because it’s not going to change anytime soon.
