Anxiety is a normal human emotion or a human illness. Anxiety is everything that affects our life negatively whether its stress, tension, weight loss, or fatigue. Anxiety affects us all physically and emotionally and the toll it can take on the human body can be deadly.
Anxiety disorders can lead to high blood pressure, irregular heart rate, nausea, vomiting, manic episodes, and even seizures.
Knowing when to help
Recognizing when someone needs help can be tough to tell, a lot of people that live with Anxiety try to keep it hidden as it is a mental disease with them and all of their demons, which you don’t want to tell anyone. So here are a few indicators that someone you know might be living with anxiety.
- Slurred Speech
- Sleeping difficulties
- Heightened sense of urgency or worry
- Always seem like their on edge
Let’s take a look at why people go through so many battles within their own minds.
Hereditary: Most mental illness can be traced back to family members, so knowing your family history on mental illness can give you a better understanding if you’ll ever be affected by it.
Substance Abuse: Withdrawals from drugs/ alcohol could cause one to have problems with anxiety as their bodies have to adjust to life without the abused substance.
Relationships: Family, work, and personal relationships can cause anxiety as well, there is always that battle between the 3 cyphering out and deciding which relationship is the most important to you can help you overcome, but that is easier said than done.
Chemical imbalance in the brain: So another huge factor is the neurological part, this sometimes our brain doesn’t produce enough of the chemicals that help us cope with all the struggles that society brings our way.
Nothing you can do can ever just make an anxiety disorder go away. It is something that you will have to live with for the rest of your life, but that doesn’t mean you can’t live a fulfilling life. With the proper treatment, you can still live a normal life.
Support System: One of the things I want anyone that reads this is that you are never alone. There are millions of people living and going through what you’re going through. You should have a network of people that have the same issues and you guys can help each other by offering one another support.
Work/Life Balance: Something that doesn’t exist right? No. Wrong every job that you’re ever going to have will never be more important than taking care of yourself. The amount of pressure on a man or woman that can’t provide for their family is unbearable, imagine that on top of not being in a good mental state. I encourage everyone that hasn’t taken a vacation in a while to take one ASAP. I understand it can be pricey or if you can’t get off of work. But when you can please take a few days for yourself.
Positive Thoughts: I know when you going through a lot in life it can be a lot to soak in. It’s easier to focus on the bad than the good but the real blessing lies with waking up every single day (a friend once told me every breath is a second chance) and with that, there are a lot of positives you can look at.
Hobbies: Some people like the gym, some like drawing, playing video games, or even being a writer for Alleverythingentertainment.com. The point of the matter is to do something that you enjoy if it’s hard to do that force yourself too.
Counseling/ Life Coach: Go talk to a trained professional, consult with them and set reasonable goals for yourself. For all men that think seeing a counselor is a waste of time, 4 years ago I went to see a therapist and it saved my life. I am more of a man than I ever imagined, asking for help was the best thing I could have ever done.
Remember for anyone that has ever experienced a struggle or a hardship that pain doesn’t go away overnight but you have to keep going no matter how hard, unfair, or downright nasty things get.
Battles aren’t won in a day. They are won over time and a lot like sports no matter how great you are everyone is bound to have a bad day or game. It’s about how you respond that is what makes the greats.
Please consult with your primary provider, and decide what medication will be right for your treatment.
“Trust yourself. You’ve survived a lot, and you’ll survive whatever is coming.”– Robert Tew
“Life is ten percent what you experience and ninety percent how you respond to it.”— Dorothy M. Neddermeyer
“Do not anticipate trouble, or worry about what may never happen. Keep in the sunlight.”— Benjamin Franklin
Anxiety is an illness that eats away at your mind and soul. It locks you away in a prison inside of your mind where you lose touch with reality so much that your thoughts become your reality without the substance of fact. Don’t be afraid to ask for help.
For everyone still reading thank you, I hope this can help you in any way. There are ups and downs, highs and lows for everyone. No one is perfect we are not perfect as sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, grandparents, friends, you name it.
Life is not about living perfectly or trying to have a perfect life. Life is about trying to make the best decisions at the time and owning our mistakes when we don’t make the right ones.
