Coffee and Kareem on Netflix…Surprisingly not too Bad
Coffee and Kareem on Netflix was surprisingly not too bad! When we saw the preview it looked like just another slapstick buddy cop film. But I figured since one of my favorite actresses is in it so I’d give it a try. When I went in I had very low expectations since the movie is a Netflix Original film.
The movie stars Ed Helms, the beautiful Taraji P. Henson, and newcomer Terrence Little Gardenhigh.
While police officer James Coffee (Ed Helms) enjoys his new relationship with Vanessa Manning (Taraji P. Henson), her beloved 12-year-old son Kareem (Terrence Little Gardenhigh) plots their break-up. Attempting to scare away his mom’s boyfriend for good, Kareem tries to hire criminal fugitives to take him out but accidentally exposes a secret network of criminal activity, making his family its latest target.
To protect Vanessa, Kareem teams up with Coffee, the partner he never wanted, for a dangerous chase across Detroit.
From director Michael Dowse, COFFEE and KAREEM is an action-comedy about forging unexpected bonds, one four-letter insult at a time. Co-starring Betty Gilpin, RonReaco Lee, Andrew Bachelor, and David Alan Grier.
TVMA…don’t watch with the kids!
The movie is rated TVMA so you definitely don’t want to watch this movie with kids around. The movie is full of violence and crude humor and I am into that. But for a 12-year-old kid some of the things Gardenhigh said even made my mouth drop!
If you love gunfire and explosions this definitely had tons of it. Ed Helms played a cop straight out of a1980s Police Academy movie. Just like those movies, it makes you wonder how did someone so dumb and clumsy become a cop.
As always Taraji was amazing in her role. I looked at a lot of ratings and some were low but to me, the actors had great chemistry. The film had enough action to keep me interested and raunchy comedy that made me laugh!
The movie is only 88 minutes and is worth the watch!
