Welcome to another week of college football, we went 3-1 with our picks last week(2 underdogs that won outright with TCU and Arkansas). The slate of games that we have on tap for this week look pretty solid on paper including my all-time favorite the red river shootout between Texas and Oklahoma. Let’s get to the picks for the week:
14 Tennessee vs 3 Georgia (-12.5)
Well, Georgia looks to bolster its resume this week in a battle of top 15 teams when they host the Vols, who put a hurting on Mizzou last week 35-12 and dominated from start to finish. Georgia stifled Auburn most of the game last week, but with Tennessee’s offensive line and Georgia’s defensive line being evenly matched in this one I think Tennessee with pose a tougher challenge to the dogs this week. I expect a competitive game down to the wire. Georgia pulls out the win but ill take Tennessee with +12.5 points in a 30-23 final.
7 Miami(Florida) vs 1 Clemson (-14.5)
Clemson seems as if they have been going through the motions thus far by failing to cover in any of their 3 games, but when the lights shine bright they are usually ready to play and I expect nothing less from them in this one. I know, D’Eriq King has played well since transferring from Houston last year, but I think he’ll be held in check in this contest and Clemson will impose their will on the defensive side of the ball by causing a handful of turnovers. I Don’t expect this to be close at all and have Clemson covering -14.5 easily 38-13.
Arkansas vs 13 Auburn (-14)
Referring back to the open, Arkansas had a very impressive upset win over a Mississippi State team that upset LSU the week before and going into last week Arkansas had only won 4 of their last 25 Conference games lol. Auburn on the flip was embarrassed last week by a very talented and National Championship contender Georgia. This is a spot where I think Auburn comes out sharp and makes things very difficult for coach Sam Pittman and his guys. I like Auburn to cover -14 by a score of 37-10.
22 Texas vs Oklahoma (-3)
Wow…. wow…. wow.. So this may be the most confusing game of the slate but It’s also telling that an Oklahoma team that has lost their last two contests and has a worse record than Texas is favored by 3 on a Neutral field. Oklahoma has blown double digit leads the last two weeks but none bigger than two weeks ago at home against Kansas State when they held a 35-14 lead late in the 3rd. However, they allowed Kansas State to rally back to score 24 unanswered points on them. Last week against Iowa State they were gashed on the ground by Breece Hall and need to sure that up if they want to beat Texas this week who are going up against a very good running Quarterback in Sam Ehlinger. I’m taking Oklahoma -3 40-34 in a old fashioned shootout.
