Watson and Houston have agreed to a 4-year contract that averages $39 million a year with a $27 million signing bonus. It will be worth $160 million over the four years and will keep Watson in Houston until at least 2025, which will be his age 30 season. After trading Hoppins, we didn’t think a deal would ever get done but it has happened and the Texans are looking to get Watson the next level.
Watson, like Mahomes who signed his contract extension earlier this summer, is locked into the same franchise that drafted him in 2017. He’s looking to replicate the same success Mahomes had in Kansas City by bringing a championship to Houston.
Watson will celebrate the contract extension by playing the Chiefs next Thursday, September 10th, to kick off the 2020 regular season and he’s hoping to knock off Mahomes in the matchup.
