With everything going on in the world with the Covid-19, most people have quarantined themselves. There have been several shows and movies depicting what the world goes through during an epidemic.
You can find most of these films and shows on Netflix. Hulu, or Amazon.
These films and shows cause quite a bit of mass hysteria and paranoia.
1995’s Outbreak with Dustin Hoffman and Rene Russo was one of the most talked-about epidemic thrillers. This one takes place in California and features a deadly virus similar to Ebola. The army then decides the only way to stop the virus is to wipe out the entire town where the initial outbreak occurred, rather than waiting for a cure. Outbreak is currently on Netflix.
Contagion was released in 2011 and featured Kate Winslet, Jude Law, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Matt Damon. It was about an unknown deadly virus that quickly spreads across the world and sends everyone into a panic. This pandemic type of film was rather frightening with the CDC officials and the government scrambling to contain a virus they know nothing about.
A few other pandemic films worth checking out include Carriers, Right at Your Door, Viral, Blindness, and Quarantine. There is even a Treat Williams movie out there called Venomous that shows a town places under quarantine after a deadly outbreak occurs when people are bitten by rattlesnakes that are carrying a deadly virus.
There are even horror films that deal with viruses and severe outbreaks. These include the Cabin Fever films about a flesh-eating virus that quickly spreads.
28 Days Later and 28 Weeks later deal with a rage virus that causes millions to turn into murderous fiends.
Also, the 2010 movie The Crazies features an unknown chemical that gets into a town’s water supply and causes everyone to go crazy especially when the government and the army quarantine the entire town.
There have also been television series and miniseries that deal with a different type of outbreak. These include the CWs series called Containment, which is now on Netflix. Another one is the Stephen King miniseries The Stand.
After seeing almost all of these types of films, one can assume just how crazy the world could possibly become if this virus today keeps on spreading.
It seems completely different when watching these films and thinking about how scary it would be if this really happened someday.
So, if you decide to quarantine yourself and are wanting to be morbidly entertained, then check out any of these films. Most of which and a few others are currently being added to every streaming device out there.
