Todays date is March 15, 2020, and COVID-19 also referred to as the coronavirus has not only put our society but most of the world on an indefinite pause.
Five Things to do during Coronavirus Quarantine
The NBA and NHL are on hiatus. Disney World has shut its doors. Security guards are handing out disinfecting wipes for your grocery cart. Toilet paper is this decades gold rush!
At least as of today, the Waffle House is still open. The day I see this franchise go into shutdown mode, it might be the time I officially become a doomsday prepper.
But let’s not fret. While we are undergoing a very weird time in our world’s history there are things that keep us entertained inside our own houses.
So I decided to make my own Top 5 list of things that can keep us from getting cabin fever during this crazy time.
I’m also including my entertainment suggestions in each of these categories.
I’ve decided to not include Netflix, Hulu, Disney plus or any other streaming service. Because let’s face it, most of us were doing this already.
Finish those Campaigns
Like clockwork every year in the fall we get bombarded with a slew of video games. So many that it’s often referred to as the hardcore gaming season. And while it can be an exciting time for gamers as we get our hands on these new games. There are often times we don’t finish them.
Now, this could be for a variety of reasons. For me personally, I usually have about 20-30 minutes to sit down and game a day. So it’s just easier to jump into the games multiplayer modes instead of starting up a chapter in a campaign I might not have time to finish, only having to do it all over again.
With having more free time on my hands, it’s time to hunker down and explore these games’ stories.
Some of the campaigns I’m finally looking forward to completing or in some cases finally starting are Borderlands 3, Gears of War 5 and Modern Warfare. Yes, I am that far behind.
Catch up on your Comics
Whether your an avid, casual or maybe you haven’t picked up a comic in years, now might be the time to indulge in some stories that can remove us from reality.
On average I visit my local comic shop about twice a month. When picking up a book of a series I’m currently reading, I often pick up a few other books that catch my interest.
But just like gaming, sometimes I just get wrapped up in life. However, it looks like there might be plenty of time in the next couple of weeks to catch up with some of my favorite heroes.
Two of the current series I’m reading are Excalibur and He-man and the Masters of the Multiverse. Also, let’s not forget about the independent comic creators. One of my favorites is To Be The Man. If you love wrestling and comics I highly recommend this one.
Take pictures of your Funko Pops
Now if you’re someone who keeps them all in the box this section is not for you. But if you don’t mind letting your Pops explore why not take them out for a photoshoot.
Have fun and be creative.
While, my Instagram has been flooded with pictures of empty shelves of toilet paper. I’d preferably love to see fun pictures of Funko Pops to bring some cheer back to the gram.
Discover Independent wrestling
You know shit is real when there is a very strong chance that WrestleMania could be canceled. WWE has already made drastic changes to its weekly programming. And there’s a possibility that AEW could be off the air for several weeks.
What is my suggestion to do? Why not go through YouTube and discover independent wrestling. Some of the YouTube channels I can recommend are Beyond Wrestling, The Gorilla Press and Title Match Wrestling. And if you want to see interviews with independent wrestlers you can always check out my own channel Toned In Entertainment.
Now is such a great time to check out the talent of tomorrow. Most of your favorite wrestlers in AEW, Impact, and WWE came up through the independent scene. If your a wrestling fan and haven’t checked out the independent scene this is the perfect time to do so.
Watch your favorite guilty pleasure movie
Movie theaters will be hit hard during this time. Movies like The Quiet Place 2 and Fast and Furious 9 are being pushed back.
And in a recent statement by AMC Theaters. They said they would help do their part in controlling crowds at the theater. They will now only allow each theater to hold 50% of its capacity. Therefore, if your movie would normally be open to 100 people it will now be sold out once 50 tickets are purchased.
So while the movie theater experience might not be the ideal situation right now, there’s still plenty of options.
My pick is to go back through your DVD and Blu Ray collection and watch some of your favorite guilty pleasure movies.
Some of my personal favorites I plan on watching are Commando, The Lost Boys, American Pie and one of my personal favorites The Wizard.
Times are a little crazy but these movies are a comfort but an escape from reality. Something I think we could all use right now.
