Everyone assumes when you leave WWE that Vince McMahon disowns you. While that might be the case with a few former WWE stars, it is not true with all. Jim Ross and Vince are still friends even though Good Ol’ J.R. is now the announcer for rival AEW!
Jim Ross worked for the WWE for over twenty years. He was one of the most recognizable voices of WWE’s Attitude Era but also held many other roles with the company. On April 3, 2019, Ross signed a three-year contract with AEW to be a commentator and senior advisor. Ross is currently promoting his second autobiography, “Under the Black Hat: My Life in the WWE and Beyond”.
During an interview with 411 Wrestling J.R. said they don’t talk every day but they do keep in touch every now and again. J.R. said “I have great respect for Vince McMahon, and for 25 years, he gave me a lot of money to do my job…”.
Their most recent interaction happened last week after WrestleMania 36. “I texted him my congratulations on the success of WrestleMania. I thought it was…an artistic miracle that they were able to do what they did…”, J.R. admitted. It seems even while working for competing companies, Jim Ross and Vince will still be friends!
