Since Disney and ESPN stopped Dana White from running UFC 249 during this coronavirus pandemic he has been chomping at the bit to broadcast some sort of fight card for the fans. Instead of doing a normal card, he is coming out strong with a huge card full of hungry fighters. This is the list of fights booked for May 9th and my UFC 249 Predictions.
Tony Ferguson vs. Justin Gaethje – Interim Lightweight Title-
After stepping in for Khabib since he was not able to fly for the fight, Gaethje then got let down again because the card was canceled. But now Gaethje will actually get his shot at Ferguson and the interim title with a few more weeks of training. I still have Ferguson taking this by a 5 round decision but Gaethje will be a tough opponent.
Henry Cejudo vs. Dominick Cruz – Bantamweight Title Fight
Originally it was supposed to be Aldo vs Cejudo but Aldo can’t travel so Cruz offered to step in on short notice and I see fireworks for this fight. Cruz keeps himself in great shape and Cejudo hasn’t fought in a while so don’t be surprised if Cejudo doesn’t take this fight seriously and struggles early on. However, he should still pull a decision out of this fight.
Francis Ngannou vs. Jairzinho Rozenstruik
Battle of the knockout hitting heavyweights. Both are on winning streaks and both look to move up the ladder for that title shot if they win. This fight has fight of the night honors written all over it and will most likely be out all fireworks. I Predict Rozenstruik with the upset knockout he just seems to make miracles happen.
Jeremy Stephens vs. Calvin Kattar
A fight originally scheduled for early March. I see Stephens taking this one by decision. Stephens is desperate to win considering he has been on a 4 fight winless streak and needs this to continue on in the company .
Greg Hardy vs. Yorgan De Castro
I got Greg Hardy winning this fight by knockout in the 2nd round and some people don’t like him but he is a good fit for the UFC.
Donald Cerrone vs. Anthony Pettis
Two fighters who seem to win all of their fights but lose when they are put in big time ones. Look for Cerrone to take this one with how Pettis has been on the downside of his career.
Alexey Oleynik vs. Fabricio Werdum
Werdums first fight back from suspension and i see him by 1sr round submission win.
What are you thoughts on tonight’s show and my UFC 249 predictions?
