It looks like Lionel Messi is sitting out preseason training and both sides are at a road block right now.
Messi’s legal team argues he’s terminated his contract with Barcelona and doesn’t need to show up to training. While the team reportedly maintains the clause in question allows him to terminate his contract, expired in June and that any team interested in signing Messi must activate his €700-million release clause.
Now a big court case is looming over Messi and Barcelona, as the two sides insist on different views of a famous clause in the Argentine’s contract that may or may not allow him to leave on a free transfer with out sitting out a year.
The ending to this long saga will be watched heavily considering teams are already set to offer Messi big money. One team in particular being Manchester City, who have come out and said they are putting €150 aside just for when the time comes.
