Creed and Black Panther star Michael B. Jordan is set to produce DC’s Static Shock film. He’s working with his Outlier Society production company, Warner Bros., and Reginald Hudlin, who is writing the new comic series releasing in February.
“I’m proud to be a part of building a new universe centered around Black superheroes; our community deserves that. Outlier Society is committed to bringing to life diverse comic book content across all platforms and we are excited to partner with Reggie and Warner Bros. on this initial step.”Michael B. Static Shock (Virgil Hawkins) has electromagnetic powers after exposure to a mutagen gas. Static was created in the 90s by Milestone Media and DC Comics. An animated series joined the WB Kids line up in the 2000s. Hudlin revived Milestone Media in 2015 to bring more black superheroes to the forefront. Milestone Media characters are an official part of the wider DC Multiverse. They exist on Earth M, opening up the possibility for crossovers with DC’s biggest heroes. Their first new comic was Milestone Returns #0 in September 2020.
