Breaking news out of Impact Wrestling as it looks like Michael Elgin is going to be released by the company. News broke earlier this afternoon that Michael Elgin and Sami Callahan got into a real fight and had to be separated. This was likely Elgin’s last straw with the company.
Fightful Wrestling stated the following:
“Fightful has learned of a physical altercation involving IMPACT Wrestling stars Michael Elgin and Sami Callihan. Fightful was told that the two recently were setting up a match that also involved Ken Shamrock, and disagreed on how the match should start. The disagreement escalated to the point where the two ended up fighting and Scott D’Amore had to step in. Not that it’s related, but IMPACT also released a statement today stating that Elgin will no longer appear on their programming. He was involved in the planned Slammiversary main event, and a Team Canada tease.”
Elgin was also actively competing for Pro Wrestling Noah while being a part of Impact and it remains to be seen what his future with that company will be.
It looked like Elgin was being booked to become World Champion in the near future before he was suspended by the company for the allegations of misconduct made against him.
Impact has now released multiple superstars over the last few days. This includes Tessa Blanchard and now Michael Elgin. With all these releases by Impact it’s going to be a tough time book a good show.
However, this was absolutely the right move to release Elgin as he is likely not going to be seen in a wrestling ring again. Good job by the Impact Wrestling Executives doing what they needed to do.
