Right-hander Mike Clevinger is on the 28-player roster for the Padres for the NL Division Series and is starting Game 1 against the Dodgers after missing the first round of the playoffs.
Clevinger departed his September 23rd start with what was later diagnosed as a posterior elbow impingement, for which he received a cortisone shot on September 25th. After throwing a bullpen the day before the Wild Card Series, he was left off that roster. He was pain-free Sunday after throwing a bullpen session and Jayce Tingler made the call to add him back to the roster. Clevinger made just four starts with San Diego in 2020, but he went 13–4 with a 2.71 ERA in Cleveland last season. Here’s to hoping he stays injury free for the rest of the playoffs.
