My Spy Review: Batista Hits A Homerun!

I just watched My Spy on Amazon Prime. The movie stars Batista the former WWE Professional wrestler. I’ll be honest I wasn’t sure what to expect going in but in the end I was pleasantly surprised at how good the movie was.

My Spy Review

For those who haven’t yet got to watch it here is what it is about. Nine-year-old Sophie catches JJ, a hardened CIA operative, spying on her family during a routine surveillance operation. In exchange for not blowing his cover, JJ begrudgingly agrees to show the precocious girl how to become a spy. What at first seems like an easy task soon turns into a battle of wits as Sophie proves you don’t need much experience to outsmart a seasoned agent.

Batista hit a home run with this one. If you love movies like The Pacifier with Vin Diesel or The Gameplan and Tooth Fairy with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson you will find this movie just as good. Batista shows his rough, tough, and rugged exterior but shows his soft side as well. The star of the Guardians Of The Galaxy shows he is a versatile actor and not just an action star. Growing up I was a huge Batista fan in the WWE but I believe he has found his calling in show business. I for one would rather make millions making movies than having my brains beat in with a chair.

His costar is a cute 11-year old that steals the show. Chloe Coleman plays Sophie a little 9-year-old 4th grader that is trying to fit in with the kids at her new Chicago school. She was so funny and talked more like an adult then the 9-year-old she was playing. She was witty, sarcastic, and lovable all at the same time.

My Spy Review

This movie had a few bad words here and there and does come with a PG13 rating but honestly, that is more for the violence than anything else. This is definitely a movie that kids around 10 and up can watch with mom and dad.

I give the movie 8/10 for its great action scenes and a great storyline that brings this movie together.
