Giannis Antetokounmpo has been selected as the 2020 NBA Defensive Player of the Year according to sources close to the league. Antetokounmpo is the anchor of a Bucks unit that had the top defensive rating (103.36) in the league. He’s one of the few players in the NBA capable of guarding all five positions and the team uses that to their advantage.
Giannis has the chance to add to his trophy case further, as he’s also up for a second consecutive MVP award. Antetokounmpo averaged 29.5 points, 13.6 rebounds, 5.6 assists, one steal, and one block in 63 regular-season games. The only other players to win both awards were Hakeem and Jordan.
