NFL Free Agency has been hot and heavy for the last 3 days. It has given us some life while we are all trapped inside due to the coronavirus. Let’s take a look at our NFL Free Agency 2020 winners and losers thus far.
Winner: Arizona Cardinals
The Cardinals got a major lift by trading running back David Johnson for All-Pro wideout Deandre Hopkins. This gives Kyler Murray a true #1 receiver and also dumps the huge contract that Johnson had.
Loser: Houston Texans
Not hard to see why they make the list. They traded an All-Pro receiver for a running back who got benched midseason.
Winner: Cleveland Browns
The Browns were very active yesterday locking up names like tight end Austin Hooper, right tackle Jack Conklin, and back-up quarterback Case Keenum.
Loser: Atlanta Falcons
The Falcons make the list not for not making any huge splashes. They have lost Vic Beasley, Desmond Trufant, and Devonta Freeman because Atlanta has found itself in salary cap hell. On the bright side, they have added Dante Fowler who is coming off a good season with the Ram.
Winner: Miami Dolphins
The Dolphins have added names like Ereck Flowers, Kyle Van Noy, Byron Jones, Jordan Howard, and center Ted Carras already. They have money and draft picks and they will spend! The Dolphins should be much improved in 2020.
Loser: Minnesota Vikings
The Vikings had no choice but to trade pro bowl receiver Stephon Diggs to Buffalo as their offense has become more run centric. They got a nice slew of picks in return but the Vikings have now lost Diggs and Xavier Rhodes this offseason.
Winner: Tennessee Titans
The Titans made a bevy of moves like cutting a number of aging star players to give way to a huge payday for Ryan Tannehill. They tagged Derrick Henry and resigned Dennis Kelly who will replace Jack Conklin in the starting line-up. The Titans also signed Vic Beasley to a 1 Year 9.5M deal to help shore up that pass rush.
Loser: New England Patriots
The Patriots were the worst 12-4 team we’d ever seen in the playoffs a season ago and they just let the greatest of all time walk out the door.
Winner: Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Everyone called me crazy when I said I thought the Bucs would have won their division if Jameis threw 20 picks instead of 30. The Buccaneers will finalize a deal today that will bring the greatest of all time Tom Brady in to be the new starting quarterback.
Loser: Los Angeles Rams
The Ram have lost Brockers, Littleton, Fowler, and Nickel-Robey-Coleman off a defense that wasn’t very good, to begin with.
