Last night the Islanders prevented themselves from getting into a near-impossible situation by avoiding going down 3-0 in the series. In the 1st period, Cal Clutterbuck got the Islanders on the board at 12:58. Mikhail Sergachev, however, would erase the lead less than 4 minutes later to tie things up. In the 2nd period, the Isles battled hard and with goals from Pelech and Beauvillier exactly 2 minutes apart – took a 3-1 lead (uh-oh) going into the 3rd. In the 3rd period, of course, the Lightning mounted a comeback with goal by Palat early on and Johnson mid-way through the period to make it 3-3. But Brock Nelson restored the lead for the Islanders at 16:35 and Pageau would add an empty-netter at 19:24 to give the Islanders a much-needed 5-3 win. With the series now at 2-1 in favor of Tampa, Game 4 is set for Sunday at 3pm ET.
Highlight of the Night
This game was filled with emotion and Matt Martin made sure to send a message to the Bolts and their bench after taking exception to a play earlier that saw Kucherov trying to hack down Pageau like he was a tree. Game 4 is going to be exciting!
Playoffs Continue Tonight…
The Golden Knights and Dallas Stars play Game 4 tonight at 8pm ET. Dallas has a 2-1 series lead with the Knights looking to square things up. This has been a very entertaining series and I’m sure tonight will not disappoint.
