As reported by TSN Insider, Bob McKenzie, Toronto and Edmonton will be the two NHL Hub cities for the 2020 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs.
McKenzie also mentions, though “nothing carved in stone just yet, but if there are no hiccups in finalizing the tentative agreement.” He also mentions that the “NHLPA membership could be voting on RTP/CBA/transition/critical dates by Friday or Saturday.”
Looks like what happens in Vegas really does stay in Vegas – there’s a COVID-19 outbreak in Nevada and they want to keep it there!
With the two Hub cities in Canada, this would eliminate the need for any cross-border travel and would help keep players and all businesses involved in the RTP process safer.
I’m sure Gary Bettman has lost some sleep on this, although he hasn’t made the official announcement. I’m sure the look on his face when he does won’t be one of content. Mind you, it may also be the first time he ever speaks where he won’t hear any “boos” interrupting him!
Would have been nice to have the official announcement made today since it is Canada Day here in the Great White North.
