After today’s 4-0 loss to West Ham it has been confirmed that Norwich City is the first team to face relegation this season. But has it been a season full of failures or are there any silver linings to this dark cloud?
Norwich began the season with a 4-0 loss to now champions Liverpool, however, wins against Man City, Everton, and Leicester show that they gave it a real good go and that their squad is only missing a few pieces. An FA Cup quarter final exit at the hands of Manchester United was the best thing that happened this season for the Canaries but an injury time winner saw their cup hopes squashed.
Players such as Max Aarons, Todd Cantwell, and Emi Beundia all showed immense skills in their first Premier League season and were bright lights on a dull campaign. The problem is will they be able to retain them or will they lose these key players to top tier clubs? In my opinion, it’ll be hard as Cantwell is already linked with a move to the Spurs in the summer. However, I do believe that he will be loaned back to them for game time.
Norwich has always been a club drifting in and out of the Premier League for the past 10 years and I don’t think it will be long before we see them again in the top flight of English football.
They will see themselves as front runners to come straight back up from the Championship providing they can keep their squad as intact as possible.
