AEE has now learned that NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis has accepted Mike Bennett’s challenge for the title.
Aldis had just recently retained the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship by defeating Nobe Bryant at the Fighting Words: Independent Wrestling Expo Show, he also serves as a special correspondent for the Global Digital Brand With Fire TV. Former WWE Superstar Mike Bennett issued a challenge at the champion for the September 15th debut of the weekly Prime Time Live PPV series from the United Wrestling Network and the NWA.
Bennett sent an emotional message to the NWA and it’s Champion Aldis.
Bennett was quoted by saying, “Nick you don’t have to accept, I won’t be mad at you, this is everything to me. This is my livelihood. This is my legacy. Nick, September 15, I’m down if your down. I am fighting for my life.”
Aldis officially accepted Bennett’s challenge. Aldis even acknowledged his career credentials representing a worthy opponent for a shot at the Ten Pounds of Gold.
Aldis was asked this question on the This Is The NWA podcast if he could write Bennett off due to his unsuccessful run in the WWE.
I have no intention whatsoever of writing off Mike Bennett. And If I thought that was a forgone conclusion, I wouldn’t take the match.
Aldis closed his message out by showing why he is The National Treasure by making the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship feel important and respected.
The NWA Champ had more to say about the promotion and Bennett.
We (NWA) don’t play around. I heard the lion that has been lying dormant in that man the entire time he has been muted in that other place (WWE). So, I welcome it.
I want the lion, I want the man who thinks he can take me out the king of the jungle. Somebody comes to me and comes at me trying to take the Worlds Championship and brings their absolute best and then I put them down, It makes me stronger. It lifts my game that much higher and puts another brick in the wall of my legacy for all time.
