NXT Takeover: In Your House Results
The show started with the six-woman match. Tegan Nox, Shotzi Blackheart, and Mia Yim defeated Dakota Kai, Raquel Gonzalez, and Candice Lerae. NXT is so loaded in this division and this match shows. From start to finish it was nonstop action with each woman getting in their spots. The end came when Nox hit Kai with the Shining Wizard getting the 1-2-3 and some retribution over her former best friend.
Next was the match of the night. Finn Balor defeated Damien Priest in Priest’s coming out party. This match was fantastic all around and told a great story. Damien Priest has superstar written all over him and this match showed it. As always Balor looked great and continued to grow his momentum. I expect Balor to be the next challenger for the NXT Championship. Again, I can’t state how great Priest looked tonight. He showed his stock in a huge match with Balor and I’d expect him to be rewarded for his efforts in the near future.
How do you follow up a great match? How about with another great match? In the second on four straight men’s singles matches Keith Lee defeated Johnny Gargano to retain the North American Title. This match was a great back and forth battle that showed each men’s skills. Gargano looked great in defeat almost beating Lee multiple times. At one point Gargano took out keys from his trunk and keyed Lee’s eyes but still couldn’t get the job done. Both Mia Yim and Candice LeRae were involved in this match and as Regularly Scheduled Hostilities’ Yvonne DeBord said tonight on the live stream, this feud between these four is far from over.
Next up we had the NXT Championship match between Adam Cole and Velveteen Dream. This match was another theatrical match. Dexter Lumis showed up and abducted Roderick Strong that was interesting. The match was good and saw Cole retain his title yet again over Velveteen Dream. Hopefully, this ends the feud and Cole moves on to bigger and better things…like Finn Balor at Takeover Summerslam weekend. My buddy Big Sexy Matt Tracht said he believes Balor will be the one to take the title from Cole and I think he is spot on.
That transitions us to the last men’s singles match of the night. Karrion Kross with the beautiful and vicious Scarlett Bourdeaux just wiped the floor with Ciampa. This was something I did not expect going into the show. While I thought Kross would win I didn’t think he would win in such a dominant fashion. It will be interesting to see where Ciampa goes from here but maybe he takes a month off to recollect his edge and comes back with a vengeance. As for Kross what a Takeover Debut! Great entrance and just a complete ass whoopin of Ciampa. Good stuff and good booking here. I expect Ciampa to come back more vicious than ever. I’m very intrigued to see what’s next for both Kross and Ciampa.
In the main event, we finally got the coronation of IO Shirai as she defeated Charlotte Flair and Rhea Ripley to win the NXT Women’s Championship. These three women showed why they’re three of the very best wrestlers in the world. They fought all over the arena with all three hitting some great moves. At one point, IO hit a splash off the top of the In Your House sign onto Flair and Ripley. The match ended when Flair had Ripley in the Figure 8 and IO hit a moonsault onto Ripley for the 3 count and the win. This was awesome to see and a great way to end the show.
It will be interesting to see where storylines and certain wrestlers go from here. It was great to see IO Shirai win the title, Kross looked every bit of the man we thought he was, and it was awesome to see Damien Priest break out and show the world what he’s capable of. NXT Takeover: In Your House was the real deal and one of the best Takeover shows that I have seen.
