We have some sad breaking news to report this evening. According to his publicist, Roy Horn from Siegfried and Roy has Passed away from Covid-19
Seigfried and Roy began performing together back in Europe. Later they took their show to Las Vegas, Nevada in the United States. The two have performed for four long decades.
Siegfried Fischbacher said in a statement about his friend Roy Horn. “ Roy was a fighter his whole life including during these final days.”
Siegfried would continue to say this.
“I give my heartfelt appreciation to the team of doctors, nurses, and staff at the Mountain View Hospital who worked heroically against this insidious virus that ultimately took Roy’s life.”
The show would end after Horn was attacked by a white tiger named Mantecore while performing on stage in October 2003. Horn severed his spine in the process. Sadly, this all happened on Horn’s 59th Birthday. An audience member recalls that Horn “Looked like a rag doll in his mouth.” Roy Horn suffered major blood loss and a stroke due to his injuries.
Horn was able to walk again, but he and Siegfried would only perform together one final time for a benefit before they retired in 2010.
Horn was passionate about traveling, visiting animals, and attending events in Las Vegas.
“Today, the world has lost one of the greats of magic, but I have lost my best friend,” Fischbacher said. “ From the moment we met, I knew Roy and me, together, would change the world. There could be no Seigfried without Roy, and no Roy without Seigfried”.
A public memorial will be held on a future date for Roy Horn. Horn leaves behind a brother, Werner Horn, and his longtime performance partner, Siegfried Fischbacher.
AEE sends our prayers and condolences to Roy Horn and his family. RIP to a true magical performer.
