After a week break due to the international fixtures that took place this week, the Premier League returns with some fantastic looking games on paper. As always myself and Dan from Stand Your Ground will give our predictions for these games and see who comes away with the most correct predictions overall. We will start with a classic game and a very interesting derby.
Everton Vs Liverpool
If you read my article the other day regarding the famous Merseyside derby and why this year’s game is the most intriguing for the past decade, if you haven’t I suggest you do, Everton looks to be coming into this game in the best form they ever have. The Toffees currently sit top of the table and are unbeaten in 4 games, whereas Liverpool is coming off the back of a 7-2 loss to Aston Villa and look lost at the back with main goalkeeper Alisson injured.
Many teams bounce back from defeats such as the one Liverpool suffered at the hands of Villa but I can’t see them having the creativity to beat this impressive Everton side.
Alex’s Prediction – Everton

Chelsea Vs Southampton
Chelsea has had a very up and down start to the season with new striker Timo Werner unable to find the back of the net in the Premier League so far and until last week looked lost for ideas in attack. But a 4-0 win over Crystal Palace will give them confidence going into this game against Southampton, who themselves are coming off the back of two straight victories.
Danny Ings has continued his impressive goalscoring run this season but wasn’t required to find the net last week as they won 2-0 over West Brom. I can see the Blues struggling to break down this Southampton side but if they do then expect a flurry of goals.
Alex’s Prediction – Chelsea

Man City Vs Arsenal
Man City will feel they should have come away with 3 points from Elland Road last week after another impressive first 20-minute display but then fell away towards the end of the first half and in the second half. Pep’s side lacked a killer instinct against Leeds which could be put down to not having a first-team striker available, but they also had problems in defense again. New signing Diaz looked strong but their left back position looked to be the main problem for the Citizens.
Arsenal on the other hand currently sits 4th and looks like they can finally drag out a win in the tough situations, defensively they look a lot stronger than last season, and with Aubameyang and Lacazette looking in great form they will trouble Man City. New signing Thomas Partey is also available after an impressive run during his international call up this week for Ghana.

Dan’s Prediction – Man City
Newcastle Vs Man United
It’s never a straight forward game anymore for Man United, you never fully know which side is going to turn up and if they have the ability to beat whichever team stands in front of them which is a sad sight for any Red Devils fan. Telles has come in which should sure up the left hand side of the defense but with the centre backs looking shaky at best Newcastle will be looking to exploit the holes at the back.
Newcastle have been another team that has been very up and down in terms of form this year but will be feeling quiet confident coming into this game having picked up 4 points out of the last two games but again they are another team you can’t fully relay on turning up.

Dan’s Prediction – Man United
Sheffield Vs Fulham
Both teams have failed to register any points this season and both look to be in real danger even though we are only 4 games into the new season. Sheffield has failed to build on last seasons’ very impressive return to the Premier League and has managed only 1 goal in 4 games. Not known for scoring a lot last season they prided themselves on their strong defensive line but again this has failed to make the same impact so far.
Whereas Fulham has really struggled in their first 4 games back in the top flight having conceded 11 goals and only scored 3, which all came in the same game against Leeds. They have made a few signings that will look to strengthen Scott Parker’s side but I can’t see any way that Fulham stay up this season and will always be the pick to come away with nothing.

Crystal Palace Vs Brighton
The Eagles were flying high at the start of this season and although they suffered a heavy defeat to Chelsea in the last round of games they will still be impressed with the way they have taken to the new season. Zaha, Eze, and Awey look to be in great form and could cause a lot of problems for the Brighton defense.
The Seagulls on the other hand have struggled, minus a win away at Newcastle, but it hasn’t been all doom and gloom for Brighton. They have shown glimmers of hope in the attack, something they struggled with last season and maybe out to cause a bit of an upset against Palace. Although on paper there is a gluff in class between the two sets of forwards, I reckon this will still be a low scoring game.
Alex’s Prediction – Palace
Dan’s Prediction – Palace
Spurs Vs West Ham
West Ham at the start of this season was probably a safe bet to predict facing relegation to the Championship but the Hammers have pulled surprise results in the past few weeks. This will give them confidence when traveling to fellow London rivals Spurs on Sunday but there are still a few issues that they need to iron out.
Spurs have hit the ground running in the last few games with Son and Harry Kane really proving their worth especially in the last game in which they obliterated Man United 6-1. Their attack will be too much for West Ham to handle and this could really see a lot of goals added to that already very impressive goal tally they have racked up.

Dan’s Prediction – Spurs
Leicester Vs Aston Villa
Leicester have started this season in fine form but really struggled against West Ham in the last round of games losing 3-0. The Foxes will be looking to bounce back from that defeat but will need to be in top form to beat an Aston Villa side that has also started the season on the right foot.
Villa is coming into this game after recording an outstanding 7-2 victory of the champions Liverpool in a game where everything went right for them. Ever bounce and deflection went their way, but take nothing away from them Villa play amazingly well and fully deserved the win. It’ll be a hard task to keep their 100% record going against this Leicester side and could be a contender for game of the weekend.

Dan’s Prediction – Villa
West Brom Vs Burnley
If you are a West Brom fan you will be concerned by what you have seen so far this season, minus a 3-3 draw against Chelsea they haven’t really shown any signs that they could even challenge to stay in the Premier League. With a lack of creativity up top and a weak backline, Slaven Bilic really has his work cut out trying to keep the Baggies in the top flight.
But another team that has really struggled to get going this season is Burnley, normally known for their tough defense and route one football, they have really been disappointing so far. Nick Pope hasn’t covered himself in glory in goal and his defense also hasn’t performed to the level that many fans expect. If there is a game West Brom could win this would surely be it.
Alex’s Prediction – West Brom
Dan’s Prediction – Burnley
Leeds Vs Wolves
Leeds has become the team for all casual fans to go out of their way to watch due to the incredible style of play that Marcelo Bielsa has got them playing and nothing emphasizes this more than the 1-1 draw against Man City in the last round of games. A team that every club will dread coming up against this season and one that will always be the hardest to predict.
They face a Wolves side who also are a very entertaining side to watch with the pace and power they display upfront with the likes of Adama and Jimenez leading the line. The only edge that Wolves may have over Leeds is their defensive line, a proven back four in the Premier League, minus Semedo could cause a headache for Leeds but expect this game to be played at full pace for the entire 90 minutes.
