The Plot Thickens with CBS and Judge Judy
It looks like Judge Judy is at war with CBS and that is why she is walking away after 25 years on the air. Sources that are close to the situation say that Judy and the network have been at it for quite a while now and it mostly has to do with the former big shot of CBS, Les Moonves, no longer working there. A new regime has taken over and they and Judy just haven’t seen eye-to-eye on a lot of things she and Les were square on.
Judy was being shut down left and right on new shows ideas, she had developed, something she’d be able to do under her latest contract with them, but hasn’t been realized after Moonves was fired back in 2018.
Judy had struck a huge deal with CBS for $95 Million Dollars selling her whole “Judge Judy” library with an end date of 2020-2021. Judy was already producing the show “Hot Bench,” and was said to be developing other projects as well under CBS, like the court drama “Her Honor” which would have been based on her life.
Judy was slowly getting fed up with CBS which is why the relationship fell apart but has stayed humble and gracious when talking about the network including her visit last week on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, Judy said, “I am looking forward to a banner 25th anniversary season. CBS has been a fine partner for 20 plus years. They have decided to monetize their ‘Judge Judy’ library of reruns.” Then came the parting shot, “I wish them good luck with their experiment.”
She did announce a new show called “Judy Justice” and that will not be on CBS!
