Hello everyone this is Daniel Bakley and I bring you another week of UFC fight predictions. We have another card on ESPN+ scheduled for September 5th. This is the last card of the summer and is booked with some pretty entertaining matchups on the top of the card.
Here are my predictions for this card!
Thiago Moisés vs Jalin Turner
The opening fight of the main card will be a battle of striker against grappler. I see the experience difference so vast on the ground where the striking gap isn’t too far away from each other. Moises seems to have the more polished gameplan and I see him taking this fight to the mat early and often and eventually I see him wearing down Turner to the point where his striking won’t be that much.
Thiago Moises wins by unanimous decision.
Michel Pereira vs Zelim Adamaev
If Pereira wasn’t so much a mystery this would be easy to decide. He has all the tools to knock guys out but sometimes his moves backfire in his face and cost him fights. Luckily for him Zelim doesn’t seem to be the grinder in fights where if the fight is going down to the wire he doesn’t seem to have that extra gear to go to in order to muscle up the fight to get an edge. I won’t waste too must time on this and I see Pereira being able to finish this fight early.
Michel Pereira with the win by 1st round TKO.
Sijara Eubanks vs Karol Rosa
This is an intriguing matchup considering how underrated Eubanks is. Since not being able to compete for the Flyweight Title due to injury she has since gone 3-2 in the UFC, beating tough opponents like Lauren Murphy and Roxanne Modafferi while only losing to the highly-rated Aspen Ladd and former UFC title challenger Bethe Correia in what was a questionable decision. She is a well-rounded fighter and you would think she should easily have this fight but she is a small fighter. Karol Rosa is tall and in this fight, she should be able to keep Eubanks at bay and use the length to her advantage and as long as Rosa avoids the takedowns she should sneak away with the victory.
Karol Rosa with the win by unanimous decision.
Ovince Saint Preux vs Alonzo Menifield
Here’s a fight that was booked two weeks ago that was pushed back last minute due to COVID. Ovince is coming back down from his one fight at Heavyweight to take his gatekeeper role back. Alonzo is a fresh face in the division looking to move up the ranks and prove his worth. Saint Preux does not want to strike with Menifield, who is too aggressive and too powerful. The odds of “OSP” getting blasted are simply too high. Instead, Saint Preux has to use his experience and wrestling skills to extend the fight and tire out his opponent. If he can get this bout to the ground or into the second round, he’s likely to land yet another tapout over a solid prospect. But if he can’t get the fight to the ground, he will be rocked and lose.
I am going for the upset and I have Alonzo Menifield by 2nd round knockout.
Alistair Overeem vs Augusto Sakai
This main event is a big fight, and not just because the combatants are two of the UFC’s largest Heavyweights. It could also have genuine title ramifications, as while it’d be a stretch to imagine Overeem getting another crack at UFC gold. While, if Sakai can beat the Dutchman and look impressive in doing so, then he’d probably be within a couple of fights away from a title shot. For Overeem at his age, he needs to avoid big shots because his chin is weak now and one-shot could drop him, whereas when he was younger he could absorb it. Even with how Sakai has looked I can’t bet Overeem right here. Minus the loss to Rozenstruik where he dominated the whole fight before getting dropped late he has lost only to the elite in the division and I can see him getting inside several times, get takedowns, and ground and pound to victory.
Alistair Overeem by 3rd round Stoppage.
I hope you enjoyed my predictions for this week and as always look for my next set of predictions which will be next week for UFC Fight Night: Santos vs. Teixeira.
