The first team to really feel the effects of the Coronavirus outbreak has finally come to the forefront as Wigan Athletic have revealed that they have entered administration.
Wigan will be hit with a 12-point penalty that will see them go to the foot of the Championship table. More news will break later regarding player and staff wages but this couldn’t have come at a worse time. Recently, Bury FC, one of the oldest clubs in England, went into administration as well. This led to the club facing relegation from the football league. Another team to feel the effects of administration are the Bolton Wanderers, who since have been relegated to League 2 after finishing the season in 23rd place.
The future is unclear as to what this will mean for Wigan but hopefully we won’t see another team face disbandment.
