Ever since the acquisition of 20th century Fox by Disney, rumors have circulated to how and when the X-Men and Fantastic Four franchises would be introduced into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The MCU is a very wide assortment of heroes and villains. These two beloved teams were left out, however. Now as it seems we have finally gotten our answer as to when we can see them alongside the Avengers.
Through a hidden source we have an inside look into Disney’s plans. The Twitter account, under the alias of Roger Wardell, who had previously accurately revealed details from Endgame, such as Thor’s overweight figure, Captain America’s ‘Hail Hydra’ moment, Stan Lee’s cameo being set in the 1970s, and appearances of Robert Redford and Frank Grillo.
Now, this insider who’d previously leaked accurate information about Avengers: Endgame and Marvel’s Phase Four, has revealed how the superheroes could be introduced into the MCU.
“MCU’s Fantastic Four and X-Men will be primarily based on their Earth-1610 counterparts.”
It seems that the MCU is doubling down, heading forward with their Multiverse. This Multiverse will be explored in the Doctor Strange sequel: “Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness”. The idea that there are multiple versions of characters throughout many different universes. This would explain why no character has ever mentioned anyone from the Fantastic Four or X-Men franchises. They aren’t in our reality, yet.
The Multiverse concept is one that they have been building for a while now. With the changes in time travel and altering the past in “Avengers Endgame”. As well as the latest “Spider-Man: Far From Home” digging deep into the multiverse with Mysterio. As Nick fury explained it to Spider-Man.“Beck is from Earth, just not ours. ” Another mention of an Alternate Earth. We seem prime set to see alternate realities in all of their glory. As The Ancient One (Tilda Swinton) first mentioned it in Doctor Strange, asking the title character as his spirit was sent on a tour through the cosmos “Who are you in this vast multiverse, Mr. Strange?”
We will all have to wait and see what versions of great characters will appear on the silver screen. With casting rumors swirling around, who would you want to see play some of your favorite characters from Fantastic Four and the X-Men? What do you hope to see come forth out of this new Multiverse?
