2019 Make It Or Break It: QuarterBack Edition

Welcome to the second edition of our 2019 NFL All Everything Entertainment Make It Or Break It series brought to you by Justin Patterson. Today we will be focusing on the quarterback position.

Honorable Mention: Matthew Stafford – Stafford is on here because he needs to step up in a big way for the Lions to have success this season. Stafford only has two playoff appearances, 0 playoff wins, 0 division titles. The Lions really need to further assess if Stafford should be their guy. He doesn’t have the winning percentage that indicates he’s a true franchise guy.

Derek Carr

Derek Carr is the definition of Make It or Break It for 2019. Carr has not been a good or even an average QB since 2015 before he broke his leg. Last year under first-year Coach Gruden, Carr has his worst year since his rookie campaign. Throwing 19 TD, and 10 INT isn’t good for a QB that makes almost 30 million a season. Expect Gruden, and new GM Mayock to take a real hard look into the play of Carr this season. The Raiders are moving to Las Vegas next year, and they wanna have a winning product when they show up to the city that never sleeps.

Andy Dalton

Dalton’s career got off to a very promising start. He’s been responsible for guiding the Bengals to 4 playoff appearances. However, the Bengals haven’t been in the playoffs since 2015. You have to wonder if that is because Dalton has hit his ceiling. Coming off another injury and playing for a new regime Dalton may not have too many more chances in the jungle.

Joe Flacco

Never say no Joe lost his job to Lamar Jackson in Baltimore. He was dealt away to the Broncos, the new QB graveyard of the NFL. Denver has played through over six different QBs since Peyton Manning retired. If Flacco doesn’t work out early, expect rookie Drew Lock to take over.

Eli Manning

Eli needs to perform well this year as it looks like his time with the Giants will end after this season. The Daniel Jones era is coming. Eli needs to play well to impress potential future suitors.

Carson Wentz

The very best insurance policy in the league (Nick Foles) is no longer holding the clipboard behind Wentz. A huge gamble by the Eagles but a gamble they took because they believe in Wentz. We need to see Wentz stay healthy and we need to know if Wentz will return to his 2017 MVP form.

Jameis Winston

Winston is entering his 5th year with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He will be playing out his option. Jameis at times has looked like the guy he was expected to be but he has had issues holding onto the ball. This team is counting on him and this is his last shot in Tampa Bay.

Marcus Mariota

Fans go back and forth with Marcus because we don’t really know if he’s the guy or just a guy. Marcus has shown, when healthy, that he can be the star but the nagging injuries hold him back. He also seems to have an issue beating sub-par teams. His time is now, and this is his opportunity to keep his job.
