5 Things We Learned from NXT 4/8/20

Hey guys and gals hope everything is well!!!! We just got through another episode of NXT which had a lot of hype around it and rightfully so. The women’s ladder match, the inevitable debut of Killer Kross, and the final battle between Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano. Also, MY FAVORITE WRESTLER OF ALL TIME, CHARLOTTE WOOOOOOOOO is the new NXT Women’s Champion so we are sure to hear from the “Queen” and what her plans are on the NXT brand. Alright, let’s dive into 5 Things we learned from NXT 4/8/20!!

5. Io Shirai is the number one contender for the NXT Women’s Championship and Rhea Ripley is in limbo

Does anyone feel like me and say ITS ABOUT DAMN TIME! Io Shirai is one of the most talented women on the entire WWE roster and she’s finally going to get a chance to really showcase it.

Io Shirai vs Charlotte is going to be fantastic. I know I give Charlotte a lot of flack (trust me I will continue to do so) but damn this match is going to be amazing. Out of all the female competitors in the ladder match, Io is the only one that at this point in time you can take seriously as competition for Charlotte.

The other women need more time to season and most of them are already in feuds within each other and it didn’t make sense for them to win. NXT IMO has the best women’s division in wrestling and it showed in this match. Great spots and great action kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time this match went on. Incredible effort by all women involved! Great way to open up NXT tonight.

Coming off her loss at Wrestlemania 36 to Charlotte the future is not as clear for Rhea Ripley. Is she going to stay on NXT and pursue Charlotte and try to get some revenge? Is she destined to move on to RAW or Smackdown? These are questions we don’t have answers to at the moment but are sure to have hopefully soon. Rhea put on the match of her career at Wrestlemania and as much as I hated the fact Charlotte won (AND I HATED IT) Rhea did have the best match of her WWE career and showed that at the young age of 24 years old that she is destined to accomplish great things in WWE. All we saw of Rhea on NXT tonight is her crying after her tough loss to Charlotte on NXT and saying “She was better than I thought she was”. Who knows what the future holds for Rhea Ripley but what we do know is she is going to bring brutality wherever she ends up.

4.) Finn Balor vs Walter is going to happen its just a matter of when… same with Adam Cole vs Velveteen Dream

With all this craziness in our world with the coronavirus, it’s difficult to predict anything anymore. With all the travel issues and things of that nature, one match-we don’t know when we will get is Walter vs Finn Balor. The keyword is when. This match WILL happen its just a matter on when WWE will be able to do it. It’s possible the match has been taped (to my knowledge it hasn’t been) but when this match does happen it’s a damn near guarantee to be memorable.

Walter is a sight. He’s huge, delivers the best chop in the business, and when he shows up on the screen he grabs your attention and he just has an aura about him. The guy is a stud! The same goes for Finn Balor. After an underwhelming end to his run on RAW Balor has been involved in much better matches and storylines since going back to where he began his WWE career in NXT. This match will Walter has a possibility of being his best work with NXT to date if the match matches the expectations. After what we saw went down over in the UK tonight on NXT how can you not be excited about this match? I know I am and I cannot wait until we get to see it!

Now onto another match that the WWE Universe cannot wait to see. Adam Cole vs Velveteen Dream is going to happen and for many of the reasons stated above is why we have yet to see this match yet. This match would have most likely main evented NXT Takeover Tampa if that event was to have happened. This match will be what I think the end of Adam Cole’s days in NXT. He is the best NXT Champion they have had IMO and his reign has been filled with huge moments, great matches, and he has feuded with everyone there is to feud with on NXT. The time has come for him and the rest of the Undisputed Era to move on to either RAW or Smackdown. Bobby Fish, Kyle O’ Reilly, and Roderick Strong have already lost all their gold and it seems NXT is prepping for the Undisputed Era to be departing sooner rather than later.

This seems like the perfect time after Cole loses the belt (that’s what I predict will happen) to Velveteen. NXT will reload the talent as they always do and it’ll lead to new feuds. Hell, with the Superstar Shakeup (assuming it happens which we haven’t heard it won’t) you can add other talents that desperately need a change of scenery (EC3, Richochet, Cedric Alexander, Shinsuke Nakamura, etc) to the NXT brand as well. The tag division is still going to be in good shape even when the Undisputed Era moves on as well. This leads me to the next thing we learned….

3.) Rinku Singh and Saurav Gujar led by Malcolm Bivens are being built up as the next big tag team on NXT and likely will take NXT Tag Titles off of The Broserweights at some point

After their attack on Matt Riddle, a few weeks back and there impressive showing tonight on NXT any wrestling fan can see what’s going on here. We have our new Authors of Pain/War Raiders tag team on NXT. I can’t lie I am not familiar with much about these three men so I did some research and here is what I found out. Well, the new stable will be called Bivens Enterprises first off. Bivens referred to Rinku Singh and Saurav Gurjar as his associates.

It looks like WWE has dropped their last names and will be calling them just Rinku and Saurav. WWE doing WWE things with those names again lol anyway. Singh is a former MLB baseball player known for the Million Dollar Arm story. (He won a pitching contest on a 2008 reality television show called The Million Dollar Arm) and he was signed by WWE in January of 2018 and he made his in-ring debut in late May 2018. Gurjar previously worked for TNA’s Ring Ka King project in India, was also signed by WWE in January 2018.

Malcolm Bivens is known for his work in EVOLVE and Ring of Honor. He is also known for his work on WWE The Bump and he signed with WWE in March of 2019. WWE has high hopes for Bivens as a manager and in-ring performer and he will get a chance to shine on NXT. We knew Matt Riddle and Pete Dunne weren’t going to be long term tag champions and with this new monster team debuting it shows they will most likely be losing the belts sooner rather than later. I expect Dunne to turn on Riddle (or Riddle turn on Dunne) or Riddle to move on to RAW or Smackdown since Dunne is likely to hang around on NXT TV because of his value to the NXT UK brand. Time will tell but one thing I think we do know is Bivens Enterprises is open for business.

2.) The Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano feud is over and it’s got to be bittersweet for the WWE Universe

Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano is the greatest feud thus far in NXT history. Yeah, that’s right and don’t @ me! From the DIY days and being NXT Tag Champions to the times each guy turned on the other, to the DIY reunion and here tonight where the men beat the living hell out of each other in a warehouse (Triple H said he’d find them a warehouse with a ring and he did). It’s bittersweet for me and I know the majority of the WWE Universe would feel the same.

These two guys have been the two mainstays of NXT over the past 5 years and have provided us memorable matches, feuds and epic moments. These two guys could fight each other every Wednesday for the next 10 years and I would never complain one time. This will be the last time we see these two feud on NXT TV (I’m sure down the line we will see them again on RAW or Smackdown just not anytime soon).

Thank you both for all you have done for NXT and for helping build the brand. The future for Gargano you would think would be moving on to RAW or Smackdown soon (even though it appears he’ll stick with NXT for a bit longer after what happened at the very end of NXT)  and Ciampa will most likely stick with NXT (he has stated he would rather retire than leave NXT). Let’s say goodbye to this great feud for now but let’s go ahead and get to the fight that we witnessed tonight.

1.) Johnny Gargano defeats Tommaso Ciampa to end their feud but it looks like Killer Kross and Scarlett Bordeaux are in his future!

Let’s dive into this fight. Triple H found them a warehouse and a ring and these two men beat the living hell all over it. With the help of his wife, Candice LaRae Gargano was victorious over his long time rival to end up there epic feud that has been going on for the past 5 years. The two men beat each other with tables, chairs, and they even got actually cutters and cut the ring apron cover destroying the ring. You had a spot where Candice kicks Johnny in his Gargano’s (see what I did there?) and tells Ciampa she hates her husband thanks to him and to finish the job only then to come back moments later to kick Ciampa in his Ciampa’s(I’m sorry, I’m sorry).

Gargano then removes a protective cup from his pants and then begins laughing at Ciampa. He tells Ciampa that this is over now and then drops him with the Fairy Tale Ending in the middle of the destroyed ring and pins him for the win.

After mocking Ciampa after the match, Gargano and LaRae leave the arena and walk out to the parking lot to leave and then it shows the ref tending to Ciampa in the ring. As they walk out you can see them pass up another vehicle and in the light, you can make out what we believe to be the faces of Killer Kross and his girlfriend Scarlett Bordeaux. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN? Well, it appears that Kross and Scarlett’s first targets upon there NXT debuts will be Johnny Wrestling and Candice.

If you don’t have a quick eye like me (thanks to Tank for pointing it out) you might wanna rewind it back to see it. With the debut of the newest power couple looking like it’s happening very soon (maybe next week on NXT) it only adds excitement to what was a very very good episode of NXT. What does the future hold for Ciampa is another storyline worth watching going forward as well? I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did and I will talk to you all again Friday after Smackdown when I tell you guys what was learned afterward.
