MLB Trade Deadline- Atlanta Braves trade for Reliever

C-Hard’s Yard

Welcome, BravesNation! We are so close to the deadline and deals are coming hot off the press. Today the Braves dealt Kolby Allard to the Rangers for righty Chris Martin.

Let me start off by saying good luck to Kolby Allard in his future career with the Texas Rangers. He was selected with 14th pick in the 2015 draft. His loss of arm speed gave scouts red flags within the past year. He currently has an ERA over 4 in the minors this year. Chris Martin struggled for most of his career in the bigs which took him overseas to Japan. Since he’s returned he has been a very effective righty for the Rangers and will become a staple for Atlanta in a late relief role.

He allows hard contact, but his strength comes in the form of not giving free passes while also striking out over a batter per inning. He’s also just under 50% for his groundball rate, so he could come in with runners on to help escape with no damage. AA will be active this deadline, and I’m looking forward to breaking down all the deals here.
