DC’s Black Adam adds Sarah Shahi to its stellar cast. Shahi is joining Dwayne Johnson (Black Adam), Noah Centineo (Atom Smasher), and Aldis Hodge (Hawkman). According to Deadline, Shahi will play a “university professor and freedom fighter leading the resistance in Kahndaq.”
The role is vague but could be crucial to the new Shazam universe DC is building. Sarah Shahi could be playing Andrea Thomas, also known as Isis. Andrea was an Eqyptian goddess first introduced in the Shazam! live-action series of the late 1970s. Often fighting for good, but she has a romantic past with Black Adam. Isis has been reimagined in CW’s The Legends of Tomorrow as future hacker Zari Tomaz.
Another option for the casting could be Shiera Hall, aka Hawkgirl. We already have our Hawkman and in recent years he is less popular than his better half. Hawkgirl’s most accepted origin story is that of Egyptian consort to Prince Khufu, later Hawkman. She is reincarnated throughout history looking for her love. Black Adam will start with his Egyptian origin, making both characters strong contenders.
Sarah Shahi is best known for her work on Alias, City on a Hill, and Chicago Fire. Other than Black Adam, she is currently filming Sex/Life for Netflix.
