Cain And Able: Cain Velasquez Officially A Member Of WWE

World Wrestling Entertainment and Ultimate Fighting Championship have had…quite the interesting relationship throughout the last few years.

UFC President Dana White being in attendance for WWE shows…

WWE allowing Brock Lesnar to show up at a UFC event to hype a now-never gonna happen-match between Lesnar and former UFC Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier…

WWE and UFC have had quite a number of interactions and on WWE’s part, they have benefitted on UFC’s behalf.

In 2012, they brought back the recently lost, former UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar back after an 8-year hiatus from WWE.

In 2017, they brought in UFC’s first Bantamweight Champion and now former RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey to WWE.

Names like Daniel Cormier, Jon “Bones” Jones, Felice Herrig and Cris Cyborg have had an interest in signing with the sports entertainment juggernaut.

Now WWE just scored another former UFC legend, former UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez.

During tonight’s episode of Friday Night Smackdown on FOX, Brock Lesnar won the WWE Championship in 30 seconds, demolishing Kofi Kingston.

After the match, Rey Mysterio, who was destroyed along with his son Dominick on RAW a few nights before, came out but not by himself.

He came out with Cain Velasquez and Lesnar was shocked. For those of you don’t know, Lesnar lost the UFC Heavyweight Championship to Velasquez before his return to WWE.

This is a MEGA signing for WWE especially since Velasquez has been wrestling in AAA in Mexico for the last few months. He’s actually quite decent in the ring.

A few months ago, it was rumored that Velasquez was at the WWE Performance Center to train but silence after that. Now with Velasquez’s debut on Smackdown, it’s pretty much confirmed.

In Mixed Martial Arts, Velasquez is 14-3 in his career for 12 knockouts in his career.

Growing up, Velasquez was a Division 1 heavyweight champion at Iowa Central Community College.

He made his official MMA debut in 2006 and his UFC debut at UFC 83 in a win against Brad Morris.

Here’s the interesting thing…

Velasquez is still under contract to UFC, currently ranked at #8 on the UFC Heavyweight rankings. He was in the middle of going through USADA drug testing to get back into the octagon after a lot of injuries.

Rumor is that he’s going to withdraw from that testing which like Lesnar, would make him ineligible to fight in the Octagon again.

This means that he can sign with WWE if he already hasn’t. Tonight wasn’t just a one-off appearance. This is clearly setting up a showdown between Velasquez and Lesnar, this time in a WWE ring.

No details this far of Velasquez’s WWE contract and how long he will be under contract and what UFC will do about this, either letting him leave UFC for WWE or share Velasquez like they wanted to share Lesnar before Lesnar completely retired from MMA last year.

With Velasquez now in WWE, is he just there to have one fight against Brock Lesnar? Or will we see Cain fight the likes of Roman Reigns or Braun Strowman or Seth Rollins?

We will have to wait and see but this is a VERY EXCITING signing and you can rest assured that All Everything Entertainment will keep you up to date on Cain Velasquez’s rise through WWE.
