Eddie Money-A Fan’s Tribute to the Legend
Sadly, today, the now late great Eddie Money passed away. The former police officer turned musician passed away at 70 years old.
While today is a sad day since we lost a great man, we figured who better than to give our music tribute of the week to than Eddie Money.
Eddie Money was born Edward Joseph Mahoney in Brooklyn, New York in 1949. Eddie always aspired to be a musicin however he decided to follow in his father’s footsteps and become a police officer. Eddie would become a police officer for New York in the 1960s.
After a few years as a police officer, Eddie followed his pursuit of music. In the pursuit of his dream, he moved across the country to Berkeley, California. Eddie became a regular at the local clubs in California and started to go by the name of Eddie Money. Eddie would catch the attention of legendary promoter Bill Graham.
Graham helped Eddie get a contract with Columbia Records. In 1977 Eddie would release his debut album. Eddie would release hit songs such as Baby Hold On To Me, Walk On Water, Two Tickets To Paradise. Then even bigger hits and my personal favorites Take Me Home Tonight and Think I’m In Love. He was a soundtrack for our lives, people would cruise down the road in their sports cars turning the volume up loud singing along to Eddie Money!
Eddie was a poet and his music spoke to your heart and soul. His career spanned through then 80s. Eddie had a certain sarcastic wit that made you love him. His Tv show, Real Money on Axs Tv would feature his talented kids, his daughter Jesse and sons Dez, Julian, Joe, and Zach. His kids eventually were in his band and toured with him.
Unfortunately today we have heard of the passing of Eddie Money. He was diagnosed with esophageal cancer, last month.
There is now another Angel singing, in the Rock’ N Roll Choir in Heaven today.
We will miss you Eddie Money. Thank you for your spirit, soul, and music.
