Elliot Stabler Law and Order SVU Spinoff is coming to NBC

Fans of Law and Order SVU and Elliot Stabler are going to be excited…well sort of!

Christopher Meloni will not be back on Law And Order SVU but a new spinoff.

Dick Wolf and NBC have finalized a deal for a 13 episode spinoff of his biggest hit show and it will be made around Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni). The currently-untitled series would center around the NYPD’s organized crime unit, which Stabler is the leader of. The series will be set in New York which can be an opening for an array of Crossover events with SVU and working again with his bestie Olivia Benson!

Detective Stabler was a beloved fixture of SVU for the first twelve years, with him ultimately earning an Emmy nomination for the role in 2006. When Meloni left the show in Season 12, Stabler was canonically retired from the police force.

Law & Order has spawned multiple spinoffs since the flagship series debuted in 1990, with SVU being one of the most popular since 1999. There also was Law & Order: Criminal Intent, which ran for ten seasons, as well as short-lived spinoffs Law & Order: Trial by Jury, Law & Order: LA, and Law & Order True Crime. A new spinoff, Law & Order: Hate Crimes, was announced in September of 2018, but has not happened yet!
