Flitzmagic spreading in Miami?

IT IS BACK!!! Fitzmagic is about to kick off in Miami.

Let us start in the beginning of the offseason. The Dolphins parted ways with former head coach Adam Gase and hired former Patriots defensive coordinator Brian Flores to replace him. They traded former starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill, then signed journeyman starter Ryan Fitzpatrick as a stopgap option. Oh, and they made a draft-day trade for former Cardinals quarterback Josh Rosen, too.

Currently, Fitzpatrick and Rosen are competing against each other for the starting job throughout training camp, and according to Flores, one of the two players has distinguished himself with a clear lead. Spoiler alert it is not Rosen.

Rosen is currently on his 2nd team in his 2nd year in the league. Rosen was replaced by rookie QB Kyler Murray earlier the offseason and now seems to be falling down the depth chart. Don’t get me wrong, I believe that Rosen will have a solid career when all is said and done. But being 2nd string to a 36 year old journeyman is not how you want to start the beginning of training camp.

Here is what Flores had to say on the issue, “It’s pretty clear to me that Ryan Fitzpatrick is leading the way…I think he runs the offense very efficiently…He has great rapport with the entire team. He has a lot of leadership ability. We need that to continue and we need to grow him in that way. We need him to grow in that role. And we need all the quarterbacks to grow and improve and get better.”
