“The Master of the 619” Rey Mysterio has had a great journey and a great career in WWE. Now, we all know that Mysterio is on the verge of retirement when his contract ends up with WWE but Mysterio and his son Dominik are currently embroiled in a heated feud with Seth Rollins and his gang of disciples. It all began when Seth Rollins injured Rey Mysterio’s eye with a barbaric steel steps attack.
We all know that Mysterio’s time in WWE will be over at some point this year but now Dave Meltzer is reporting that Mysterio is currently working without a WWE contract as his deal has officially expired. There were no further updates provided on whether or not Rey had signed a contract extension. Rey Mysterio did sign a contract back in September 2018, and while it has now come to an end, the WWE veteran superstar could retire from wrestling very soon.
I don’t know why Mysterio is still working with WWE without a contract but the possible reason could be the buildup towards Dominik’s in-ring debut. Mysterio and Dominik are involved in a feud with Seth and his disciples. Mysterio has said that if he and when he wrestles his last match then he will put his mask on the line, but we don’t think that we are going to get that kind of match anytime soon but more than that we are going to see the duo of Father and Son kicking the ass of Seth Rollins and his disciples!
The plan currently is to have a single’s match between Rey Mysterio and Seth Rollins at Extreme Rules. If this goes according to the plan then I am sure that they will stretch this feud a little longer toward Summerslam where Mysterio will team with his son Dominik which would be his debut in a WWE ring.
It’s already a known fact that Mysterio wants to wrestle his last match alongside his son before taking the walk into retirement from Pro Wrestling, and there could be no better stage than Summerslam for this match.
As of right now, this is all we know about the situation but as further details come in we will keep you posted.
