Sony & Marvel reach an Agreement-Spider-Man stays with Marvel
After a short break up between Marvel and Sony Pictures, it looks as if they found a way to team up for the new Spider-Man film.
This is great news for the fans of this iconic and amazing Marvel character. On Friday these two Entertainment juggernauts announced together that Marvel Studios and their President Kevin Feige, will produce the third film in the Homecoming series. Tom Holland will be returning in his feature role of Spider-Man.
This is HUGE news that is exciting and brings much-needed relief to the Marvel fan base. The negotiations involved brought in top players from both Marvel and Sony. That includes Sony Pictures Chief, Tom Rothman, Marvel’s Kevin Feige, and Walt Disney Co-chairs, Alan Horn and Alan Bergman.
Marvel and Disney will each receive 25 percent of the profits. As part of this agreement, Spider-Man will appear in a future Marvel movie. The film is on schedule to be released on July 21, 2021. It is important to note, Amy Pascal will produce the film through Pascal Pictures. As she has on the first two Holland led films. “I am thrilled Spidey’s journey in the MCU will continue. “All of us at Marvel Studios are excited about this,” said Kevin Feige in a statement. “Spider-Man is a powerful icon and hero.”
Sony will also continue to produce their own Spidey Verse. Pascal said this it is terrific and it’s a big turn for the Peter Parker story. Marvel has licensed the rights of Spider-Man to Sony for nearly two decades.
This is wonderful news for fans of the franchise and the film series. I for one am very excited to see Tom Holland continue his role as Spider-Man. The best to play the role, if I must say so myself.
