Giants running back Saquan Barkley will be sidelined with a high ankle sprain. Barkley is expected to miss anywhere from 4-6 weeks. This obviously isn’t good news for Giants and rookie quarterback Daniel Jones, who is coming off the heels of a very impressive season debut in which he led the Giants to their first win of the season.
Head Coach Pat Shurmur did give backup RB Wayne Gallman a vote of confidence. Saying the Giants believe in him and his abilities. Gallman in relief of Barkley has had 5 carries for 13 yards so far this season.
Gallman is sure to see his workload increase this week and the foreseeable future until Barkley is healthy. Look for the Giants to add some RB depth in the free agent market. Jay Ajayi and Alfred Morris are available and could be a much need boost for the Giants backfield.
