We are five days removed from an electric and entertaining Super Wrestling Saturday where New Japan Pro Wrestling, World Wrestling Entertainment, and All Elite Wrestling. NJPW Royal Quest was good, NXT UK TakeOver Cardiff was tremendous but how was AEW All Out?
There are too many words to describe it honestly so let’s go over all of them. If you have not had a chance to read the reviews on NJPW Royal Quest or NXT TakeOver Cardiff, do so now here on AllEverythingEntertainment.com.
Now let’s talk about AEW All Out.
21-Woman Casino Battle Royale – (Winner will receive a match for the inaugural AEW Women’s World Championship)
This was definitely a nostalgia-driven match for sure. You had the current AEW Women’s roster and you had some wrestlers that people have loved for years. Wrestlers such as former WWE Women’s Champion Jazz, former Lucha Underground star Ivelisse, former WWE fan favorite Tenille Dashwood and former Impact Wrestling Knockout ODB. The ending was a surprise as I believe Britt Baker would win it all, but Nyla Rose won the match in the end.
Now I cannot speak for anyone else but myself when I say this, but I would be totally on board with a transgender woman winning the AEW Women’s Championship. Think about it. No one made a big deal when Harvey Whippleman won the WWE Women’s Championship when he was dressed up and calling himself “Harvena”. No one made a big deal when Chyna won the Royal Rumble…or won the Intercontinental Championship. No one made a big deal when Jacqueline won the Cruiserweight Championship from Chavo Guerrero. And no one at all made a big deal when Santino Marella dressed up as his supposed sister “Santina Marella” and won the Miss WrestleMania battle royal at WrestleMania over 10 years ago. Yes, this is different but when we get this critical about wrestling, we need to stop watching it because it takes all the fun out of it.
Prediction: Britt Baker
Winner: Nyla Rose
Private Party (Isiah Kassidy and Marq Quen) vs. Angélico and Jack Evans
These two teams put on the tag team showcase that you think they would. It was an entertaining match. Private Party won the match, giving them momentum for the AEW Tag Team Championship in which they have a match against The Young Bucks next month. As for Angelico and Jack Evans, they attacked Private Party shortly after, which means this rivalry is far from over.
Prediction: Angelico and Jack Evans
Winner: Private Party
Luchasaurus, Jungle Boy & Marko Stunt vs SCU (Christopher Daniels, Frankie Kazarian, and Scorpio Sky)
What a wonderful match this was. All of these men are stars. The fans love them, and they gave a really excellent performance. Luchasaurus is bigger than I ever thought he would be in AEW, same with Jungle Boy and Marko Stunt. SCU is SCU, absolute greatness and skill. SCU won the match but if these six ever got back into the ring together, I would be up for it.
Riho vs. Hikaru Shida
In what I believe to be the second biggest upset of the night, more on that later, Riho beats Hikaru Shida. Nothing much to talk about here. I’m just very surprised Riho won. She will face Nyla Rose for the right to be the 1st ever AEW Women’s Champion next month.
Prediction: Hikaru Shida
Darby Allin vs. Joey Janela vs. Jimmy Havoc
Sweet baby Jesus. I mean I have seen car accidents, train wrecks, and bad collisions but I have never seen such craziness as I did in this match. So this match was billed as the Cracker Barrel Clash. Cracker Barrel sponsored the event so this match was basically anything goes with the winner getting free medical attention and all the Cracker Barrel they can eat. This match was sick. Made people’s stomachs turn but it was so damn entertaining. From Janela getting his head stapled to Darby Allin crashing into steel steps with the Cracker Barrel…barrel to Havoc getting tied to a chair and getting his mouth taped after Janela and Allin put tacks in his mouth. These three are crazy and that’s what made this match all the more entertaining. Havoc won by pinning Janela but these three put on a Match Of The Year candidate for sure.
Prediction: Jimmy Havoc
Winner: Jimmy Havoc
Best Friends (Chuck Taylor and Trent Beretta) vs. The Dark Order (Evil Uno and Stu Grayson) – Winners receive a first-round bye in the AEW World Tag Team Championship tournament
This was quite a good tag team match. Nothing too big to talk about but the Dark Order get the win and the bye.
Prediction: Dark Order
Winner: Dark Order
Pac vs. Kenny Omega
In what was a quickly put together replacement match, this was a really good match. It’s not the best but I loved this match. Pac gave it all to Omega and Omega gave it right back to him. The biggest shocker of the night was that Pac got the win over Omega after making Omega pass out to a submission. This is huge because now it’s assumed that Pac could be Jericho’s first opponent for the AEW Championship…oops. Spoiler. As for Omega, who knows where this takes him? Maybe he and Jon Moxley will have that match they were supposed to have when AEW goes live on TNT.
Prediction: Kenny Omega
Lucha Brothers (Pentagón Jr. and Rey Fénix) (c) vs. The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson) – Escalera De La Muerte for the AAA World Tag Team Championship
“Someone is going to die” was the prevailing thought throughout this entire match. Two of the best tag teams in the world put on a classic. Spot after spot, they kept fans at the edge of their seats. In the end, The Lucha Brothers won and retained the AAA Tag Team Championship, only to be attacked by AEW’s new acquisition, Impact’s former LAX tag team of Santana and Ortiz. The tag team game has definitely changed.
Prediction: The Lucha Brothers
Winner: The Lucha Brothers
Cody vs. Shawn Spears (with Tully Blanchard)
Star Trek references aside, this was a good match. Cody had MJF in his corner, Spears had Tully Blanchard in his corner. Everyone thought MJF would turn but he didn’t. We even got an appearance by Double A Arn Anderson as he gave a classic spinebuster to Spears in the ring. Cody wins. It’s probably a guess but I think the next two matches involving the elements from this match could be MJF vs Shawn Spears and Cody vs Chris Jericho, another spoiler.
Adam Page vs. Chris Jericho – Singles match for the inaugural AEW World Championship
What history this was watching this match. 20+ years in the wrestling business for Chris Jericho, 27-year-old Hangman Page facing off for AEW’s World Championship for the first time and it was refereed by a female referee. So amazing. The match though was anything but amazing. It wasn’t terrible but it could have been better. Jericho beat Hangman with the Judas Effect elbow to become the 1st man to win the AEW World Championship. Now if only Jericho can get the title back from whoever stole it from him at Outback Steakhouse…should have eaten at Cracker Barrel
Prediction: Chris Jericho
Winner: Chris Jericho
Saturday was an amazingly long day for wrestling but if I had to do that every weekend, I would because that is how much I love pro wrestling.
