This Saturday, August 31st, 2019 is the day that wrestling fans have been waiting for since WrestleMania Weekend. The three biggest wrestling promotions in the world right now all have shows on one day. New Japan Pro Wrestling, All Elite Wrestling, and World Wrestling Entertainment all have big shows and fans will have such a busy day trying to watch every single one of them. Let’s be honest, you don’t have to choose just one. Watch all of them and plan your day if you don’t have other things to do. First off, we have NJPW Royal Quest in London, England. Then over in Wales, WWE has NXT UK TakeOver Cardiff and to cap the night, AEW has All Out in Chicago, Illinois. And that is how we’re going to break down these shows.
Here are my predictions for this Saturday’s NJPW Royal Quest:
Ryusuke Taguchi, Shota Umino, and Ren Narita vs. Rocky Romero, YOH, and SHO of Roppongi 3K
There is a lot of talent in this match. Yes, even Rocky Romero has talent. I won’t go too much into this match. Should be a decent 6-man tag but I believe Roppongi 3K and Rocky come out with the win.
Prediction: Roppongi 3K and Rocky Romero
Juice Robinson and Kota Ibushi vs. Yujiro Takahashi and Hikuleo
The winner of the G1 Climax tournament Kota Ibushi teams with one of his fellow competitors from that tournament. Easily Juice and Ibushi win.
Prediction: Juice Robinson and Kota Ibushi
SANADA and Tetsuya Naito vs. Jay White and Chase Owens
LIJ vs Bullet Club in this interesting tag team matchup. Jay White coming off of his runner-up finish in the G1 Climax Tournament. I say White needs to regain momentum, so I say Bullet Club wins.
Prediction: Jay White and Chase Owens
Robbie Eagles and Will Ospreay vs. El Phantasmo and Taiji Ishimori
This will be such an excellent tag team matchup. Four electrifying talents. Expect a lot of spots and high flying. I’m going to give the win to Ospreay and Eagles.
Prediction: Robbie Eagles and Will Ospreay
Guerrillas of Destiny (c) vs. Winners of RPW’s Road to Royal Quest tournament for the IWGP Tag Team Championship
Revolution Pro Wrestling is holding a tournament to determine who will face G.O.D. for the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Championship. Currently at this time, details of who will face G.O.D. this Saturday but regardless G.O.D. wins.
Tomohiro Ishii (c) vs. KENTA for the NEVER Openweight Championship
The Bullet Club’s newest enforcer vs The Stone Pitbull. This should be a hard-hitting slugfest for sure. My heart says Ishii retains but with the amount of momentum KENTA has had since coming to NJPW, my brain says KENTA wins the championship.
Zack Sabre Jr. (c) vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi for the British Heavyweight Championship
This is an interesting matchup. This is a championship rematch from the G1 Supercard of Honor from WrestleMania Weekend. It isn’t like these two haven’t had a great match before because they have. It’s about the booking. Would one of the biggest cornerstones in NJPW winning the British Heavyweight Championship make the title more relevant or make Tanahashi less relevant? I don’t know how this match could go. I want to go Tanahashi, but I think honestly that ZSJ retains.
Predictions: Zack Sabre Jr.
Kazuchika Okada (c) vs. Minoru Suzuki for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship
Two of the biggest names in New Japan. Two of my favorite wrestlers in the world. These two have had classics before. This should definitely be another classic and this is deserved for Suzuki since he was not involved in the G1 Climax Tournament. I believe these two will give each other all they can muster but I think the reign of the Rainmaker continues.
Prediction: Kazuchika Okada
This is a wonderful way to start off Super Wrestling Saturday. For those of you in the Eastern Time Zone of the United States, the show starts at 12:30 PM EST, 9:30 PST on FITE TV and later on video on demand on NJPW World. Super Wrestling Saturday is in 6 days and I cannot wait.
