The AEE Fantasy Start/Sit List – QB edition – Week 12

The Fantasy Football 2019 NFL regular season. As we close out the regular season, let’s take a look at the best starts and sits heading into Week 12 of your fantasy football matchups.

Start of the Week: Sam Darnold vs Oakland Raiders

After having his best game of the season against the Washington Redskins, a game in which he passed for 4 touchdowns, Sam Darnold is prime for a great matchup against the Oakland Raiders. Darnold has played better against sub-par defenses and as well as the Oakland Raiders are playing as a team, the defense is still suspect. I like Darnold as a streaming option this week.

Start – Derek Carr @ New York Jets: Similarly to the Oakland Raiders, the New York Jets also have a suspect defense. That makes Derek Carr a prime streaming candidate. Carr has scored at least 15 fantasy points in his last 5 games, meaning he has a relatively safe floor in this matchup.

Start – Jeff Driskel @ Washington Redskins: I know it feels scary starting Jeff Driskel, but it shouldn’t. Driskel has been an excellent fantasy quarterback since taking over for Matthew Stafford, taking advantage of plus matchups to score 50+ fantasy points over the last 2 weeks. With a matchup against the Redskins, I like Driskel a lot this week.

Start – Mason Rudolph @ Cincinnati Bengals: Speaking of scary starts, Mason Rudolph is widely available in leagues and has a plus matchup against a sagging Bengals squad. Rudolph’s best performance of the season came against the Bengals and even though this is a road matchup, I think he could have similar success this week.

Start – Daniel Jones @ Chicago Bears: I’m staying in the flames with Danny Dimes, even on the road in Chicago. If Jones can have even a serviceable game in a big spot here, this will cement him as my fantasy playoff quarterback, given that the Giants will face the Eagles, Dolphins, and Redskins in weeks 14 to 16.

Sit of the Week: Jameis Winston @ Atlanta Falcons

It took almost a full season, but the Atlanta Falcons have suddenly found themselves a defense. That makes me very nervous for Jameis Winston who’s been an interception machine the past few games. The Falcons just shut down the Saints and Panthers in back to back weeks, two teams with much better running games than the Buccaneers have had this season. I’m fading Winston in favor of guys like Derek Carr or Sam Darnold.

Sit – Ryan Fitzpatrick @ Cleveland Browns: Fitzmagic has turned to Fitztragic over the last two weeks after getting the Miami Dolphins two surprising wins. Fitzpatrick has been serviceable in plus matchups and though the Browns haven’t been terrific by any means, even after losing Myles Garrett for the season, the Browns could show up big at home in hopes of making a playoff run.

Sit – Dwayne Haskins vs Detroit Lions: Dwayne Haskins might be coming off his best game of the season, but it was like pulling teeth. Haskins completed 19 of 35 passes for 214 yards and 2 touchdowns but also threw an interception. The matchup is great, but even still, I’m not confident enough to start Haskins in any meaningful spots.

Sit – Nick Foles @ Tennessee Titans: I was nervous about Nick Foles’ ability to stand up to hits, but he was able to play the entire game and finished with a pretty good stat line of 296 yards and 2 touchdowns with 1 interception. Even still, the Titans defense has been above average most of the year and will be playing at home, which I believe will limit Foles’ ceiling.

Sit – Dak Prescott @ New England Patriots: You can’t trust any quarterback against the New England Patriots defense this year, especially when the game is in New England. Dak Prescott has been one of the top fantasy quarterbacks this year, but even still, I’m not going to take the risk of starting him even if Amari Cooper plays.
