The AEE Fantasy Start/Sit List – TE edition – Week 13

The Fantasy Football 2019 NFL regular season. As we close out the regular season, let’s take a look at the best starts and sits heading into Week 13 of your fantasy football matchups.

Start of the Week: Jared Cook @ Atlanta Falcons

Another year and another player disappoints me early only to come on strong after I’ve moved on from them. Last year it was Derrick Henry, this year it’s Jared Cook. Ever since I traded Cook and Melvin Gordon for Marlon Mack back in week 5, Cook has had a touchdown in every game but one. Cook is emerging as a true third option for Drew Brees and at this point, given the tight end landscape, should be started every week.

Start – Mark Andrews vs San Francisco 49ers: I get it, it’s an ugly matchup. Even still, Mark Andrews has been so good this year that I can’t see benching him. Unless I was able to get a really fantastic streamer like Ryan Griffin, I’m going to stick with Andrews over the rest of the waiver wire tight ends out there.

Start – Ryan Griffin @ Cincinnati Bengals: Speaking of Ryan Griffin, he was very close to being the start of the week. Griffin had only 3 catches last week, but one of them was for a touchdown, his 5th of the season. With a great matchup that could end up as a higher scoring game than projected, Griffin is an excellent streaming option this week.

Start – Dallas Goedert @ Miami Dolphins: It was a bad day for Dallas Goedert last week, but I think he’s going to bounce back nicely against the Miami Dolphins. Goedert is seeing a lot of targets because the wide receivers are all banged up and even if Alshon Jeffery and Nelson Agholor are available, Goedert will remain a nice streaming option.

Start – Jacob Hollister vs Minnesota Vikings: If not for Russell Wilson air mailing an easy touchdown over his head, Jacob Hollister would have had a much nicer stat line last week. The Minnesota Vikings have a pretty good run defense, so I think there will be more passing targets to go around in this game, which should benefit Hollister nicely.

Sit of the Week: Jonnu Smith @ Indianapolis Colts

Even with Delanie Walker being placed on injured reserve, effectively ending his season, I’m very nervous about Jonnu Smith. Smith was not used in the passing game during the Titans big win last week. In spite of being on the field for 92% of the Titans snaps, Smith did not even draw a target from Ryan Tannehill. He’s too unreliable to trust in such a big spot for teams trying to win and get in their playoff race.

Sit – Dawson Knox @ Dallas Cowboys: It’s touchdown or bust for Dawson Knox and I think he’s going to struggle to get in the endzone against Dallas this week. Touchdowns in fantasy football are unreliable and Dawson Knox only has 2 scores on the year, so he’s just not a reliable option for your playoff run.

Sit – OJ Howard @ Jacksonville Jaguars: #ForeverSit

Sit – Vance McDonald vs Cleveland Browns: We were all fooled by the matchup last week as Vance McDonald got a whole catch for a whole yard. Yeah… Before that, McDonald had seen 7 targets in his previous 3 games but wasn’t even looked at for the first half against the Bengals. With a quarterback change making the situation even more unpredictable, you can’t trust Vance McDonald.

Sit – Darren Fells vs New England Patriots: Regressing to his norm, Darren Fells has ceased to be fantasy relevant. The veteran tight end has 6 touchdowns on the year, but 4 of those came in two games. Otherwise, Fells has failed to top 70 yards in any game this season and I don’t see him collecting redzone catches against the Patriots top-ranked defense.
