WWE Hall of Famer Rocky Johnson Passes Away at 75
In sad breaking news, we have found out that WWE Hall of Famer Rocky Johnson has passed away at the age of 75. Rocky had a storied career wrestling all over the world for over 30 years. He won many titles including the WWF tag team titles with Tony Atlas where they were the first black tag team to hold the titles.
Rocky is the father of the great Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Rocky married into the Samoan wrestling family as he married WWE Hall of Famer, “High Cheif” Peter Maivia’s daughter Ata Maivia. The great Samoan family which included the Anoa’i family.
Rocky started his career in 1964 in Canada. He would work his way into the National Wrestling Alliance where he had great feuds with Harley Race, Terry Funk, and others.
In 1982 Rocky came over to the WWE where he had some great matches with the likes of Greg Valentine, Don Muraco, and Adrian Adonis. His tag title victory with Tony Atlas was over the Wild Samoans, making the victory even sweeter.
Rocky was an incredibly charismatic and talented man both in and out of the ring. Once he retired from in-ring competition he would train his son, Dwayne Johnson to become a professional wrestler. We all see how that worked out.
We would like to send our condolences to the family of Rocky Johnson.
Thank you, Rocky, for entertaining us for so many years.
